I currently have a 93 3.4 liter Firebird and i really love everything about it except that fact that its pretty damn slow (about 17s in the 1/4 mile) and the lack of parts for the 3.4 liter engine im considering buying a 1996 Camaro 3.8 liter with 57k on it. Im wondering if its worth the upgrade i know the Camaro has 40 more horsepower and 25 more ft-lbs of torque but what im really more concerened with is will i be able to find more performance upgrades like new computer chips or programmers etc. I already have a buyer for my car so the new camaro will really only cost me about a grand maybe less. Any input would be great
    Thanks

How much are you getting for your 3.4? You can find 93/94 LT1's for $4-5K. I don't think it's worth it to go from a small V6 to a bigger V6..

    Go for the gusto

Id get 3500 for my Firebird.. Id love to just buy a LT1 or LS1 but insurance rates for teenagers in NJ dont make that such a easy choice

Hold out for a V8 dude. I maximized a 6 and then converted to an 8 later. I spent a ton and gained very little.

If insurance is holding you back, maybe you should look at junkyard turbos. Not easy but really fun.

Also, you can put a major suspension under a 6 and have fun in the twisties. Its legal (well, sort of) and fun.

                    insurance

dont worry about your insurance company they dont care about anything except what the vin brings up. I had an 88 iroc that had a ZZ430 crate motor in it and the insurance company thought that it had a 305. So dont worry.

Your swap was an V8 to V8 swap. You are right in that the insurance company doesn't care about that because you are already paying the higher risk V8 rate.

If you take a V6 car, and put in an 8, then LIE to the insurance company you are committing fraud. If you place a claim and the adjuster notices the V8, and the policy says V6, you are screwed. Your coverage will be void, and you could be financially destroyed.

Don't we buy insurance to prevent that?
