F-Body Lingo

[Camaro4-2]

Me and a buddy of mine decided there was a need to differentiate between the 94's-97's, and 98+'s fourth gen body styles. Any time we'd spot a nice f-body we'd tell each other about it and we kind of came up with our own lingo to differentiate between to two 4th gen body styles. We call the 94-97's "4.1's (four ones)" and the 98+'s "4.2's (four twos)". We use this a lot and found it comes in handy.(ie my username 'camaro 4-2')

I was just curious if anyone else had their own f-body lingo that they'd like to share.

We've been calling them LT1s or LS1s.

1 question, why did you make up Camaro4-2 instead of TA4-2 or Firebird4-2 or something since you don't have a Camaro?

LS1 and LT1 is a good idea. I like that. We were trying to group in the V6's also. We'd then specify the V6, Z28, SS, etc.

I didn't think about the V6's in the LT1-LS1 thing. Good point. Sorry V6 guys but I can't reprogram myself after all of this time. LOL

What do you call the 93's? Could the 93-97 be considered 4.1?

Version 4 rev 0. 98+ Version 4 rev 1. nevermind. Therre are so many subtle changes every year could use it's own rev.

I just refer to them as early 4th gen or late 4th gen.

early is 93-97

late is 98-02

GM claims 4 generations. However, my import loving friends (damn them) claim 6. Why?
Well, Gen I was one car.
Gen II was two cars (early and late look NOTHING alike).
Gen III was one car.
Gen IV was two cars (early and late only look alike from the firewall back).
1+2+1+2=6.

So to them the next f-body will be a generation 7.

Well 4 different platforms. Even though some had changes in appearence pieces and powertrains they were still built on the same platform(body/chassis). Basically 4 different total redesigns.....Later

OK this is goin to sound really stupid and tarded but me and my buddy call our Camaros J-bodies. I know but it's an inside joke and we just kept doin it. We were going to our F-body club meeting and we just stated sayin, "You goin to the jbody meeting," "I hope alot of jbods will be there." I know it's dumb but we just do it. We're just idiots havin a good time and have a weird sense of humor.

I can see the humor in that. I couldn't do it though cause i personally dont like GM's J-Body line.

I know its stupid but its also a little bit of a burn on a friend that has a 2003 Cavi 4dr. He bought it ONLY to have a cheap reliable new car. He wanted something cheap on gas and cheap insurance. Now he wants to throw rims and maybe a body kit on it. Im like "Dude its an F'n J body"
