I understood that from the beginning, you still obviously don't understand what I posted. Now that I've thought about even more, I am even more sorry you never made the transition. You were robbed of something that most children are able to experience. It isn't a lie, it is a life experience that makes an impression. An impression that has a different effect than " sob blah blah blah. " That is a glimpse of your reality and I am thankful that the rest of us don't share that sentiment. I also pray to God that your view doesn't spread like a cancer. Some Children are forced to grow up faster than they should, often times killing their creativity and imagination. Book smarts aren't the only thing there is to life, it is life's experiences that triumph over all.

Yes your views are in some ways different, not so much in an absolute reality, but seriously different and lacking in what could be described as genuine compassion. I for one, will remember this thread for the rest of my life and will use it as an example of how chilren should not have the burdon of reality forced onto them too soon.

By the way, I can remember when I found out that Santa wasn't real. It wasn't any sort of traumatic experience, I didn't resent my parents for making it up, I had more fun truely believing in him as a child than pretending. It is much like owning and racing a 10 second car instead of simply pretending to have actually done it.

      wow

Good job Joe. I am with you and finding out santa wasn't real was so traumatic I don't even remember it , I do however remember all the nights we put out cookies etc and I knew he was coming, that was the best.

I agree with the 99.9% of the people here, but i also know that everyone wasnt raised the same way. maybe people tell their kids there is no santa for financial reasons ,(no offense briantech)who knows? well everyone has the right to their own opinion.

Hope everyone had a wonderfull christmas, and have a happy new year!!!

Alright, alright, sorry I ever said anything. I seriously didn't mean to piss all you people off, I was just talking. As spades said, and I said, people are just raised differently, and apparently I was raised differently than 99.9% of everyone else.

And not that it matters, but actually we *were* dirt-****ing poor when I was growing up. Got so bad that our church would do canned-food drives... for us. There were months that we wouldn't have eaten if it hadn't been for our neighboors literally giving my family food. As I recall most of my early christmas presents were all hand-made. My mom would hand sew felt christmas ornaments for us as well.

So thinking back, it probably wasn't some moral justification my mom used to not say we'd be getting real nice expensive shiny presents from santa. Its cause we weren't going to get them, period.

Anyway sorry for pissing y'all off so much. Its just the internet.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Some people take things more serious than others. You stated your opinion while others did theirs. It's a free world last time I checked and you are entitled to your opinion.

I'm not offended by your experience with Santa, and it looks like you are a good person doing well for yourself. Nobody will tell you you were raised badly. I'm sure your parents loved you very much, as I do my children.

When I saw my 3 year olds eyes light up christmas morning it was priceless. He is so cute and innocent. There are no bad thought in his mind, or memory. It is a total joy to watch his childhood flower in total innocense. I'm not going to burden him with reality, adult situations or decisions. I want him to have a fairy tale childhood, full of magical entities like Santa and the tooth fairey. I want him to stay a child as long as possible.

He will get indoctrinated to reality soo enough. I'm not going to be the one to push him at this age. I am with the majority here. I believed in Santa until 5th grade, believe it or not.

                Brian,

please read the rules of the board. There is a strict rule against profanity.

I can relate to being dirt ****ing poor as a there was a time in my life that I was there. There was a time that I could only afford to feed my child and not myself so I sat and watched him eat.

Perhaps there is an even greater meaning that has come to light in this thread, the need for us to reflect on all the views contained with it. As with any type of printed material, it is often hard to interpret the emotion when dealing strictly with print from untrained authors (all of us here). That is the reason for the smileys, so that an addition emotion icon can be added to keep any statement from being taken out of context. For example:

The statement of " What in the world are you doing?" with a can be taken completely different than if used with a

I don't think anyone was pissed (well maybe one, but it wasn't me) they just didn't agree, and chalk it up to the difficulty in interpreting emotion in printed communication.

Other than that, here is a shameless plug for my 1000th post since the new board changed over. I wonder how many it could be with a running total from the beginning?

I am a 3rd grade teacher and it really ticks me off when older kids tell children who are in my class that Santa isn't real. Fortunately, they believe so much that he is real that they don't believe the kids who tell them he is not. Like others have said; they have plenty of time to grow up, and believe me they already have to grow up way to fast. Just thought I would chime in and voice my opinion.

Brian, it's not just that you expressed your opinion, but that the way your post was worded was sort of an indirect attack on Joe's character and it was a very negative reply to a post that Joe made about how much fun he and his family had on Christmas. Sooner or later, everyone on here makes a post that others don't like - no big deal as long as it isn't a regular habit
