      no inspections in Oklahoma either

we had it repealed because noone was inspecting them adn it was just a big head ache. that and you could the 5 dollar stickers for 20 from most unscrupulous mechanics. Now I no longer have to worry about it and since I have about ten cars it is wonderful to see the inspections go. ( not all were driven but I usually have three or four ready for service) right now I have 5 ready for road duty but I spend almost all my driving time in the T/A for obvious reasons.

rip that sucker out! gad if i could get rid of mine iwould of (i live in so cal where emissions are very strict. smog check every year!) but ive talkedto my guys in other chats rooms and forums and they say the egr system, if you take it out along with your cats, your engine will run cooler you'l get a significant HP gain and not to mention the beautiful sound of no cats the only problem like stated is the ses, and resale. as for me and my 97 z28 as soon as i move to canada bye bye egr system and cats!
(be sure to get the O2 simulator)

EGR only operates at low/moderate loads, part throttle. It does not operate over 3,800rpm or at WOT under any circumstances, so there is no way it can cost you HP. In fact, since the recycled exhaust gasses quench combustion chamber temperatures and lower engine operating temp, it will actually help in preventing detonation if you tend to lug the car at low RPM in the wrong gear. There is no performance gain, and other than a small hot spot at the rear of the intake manifold, it will not affect engine temperature.

Right on, thats the purpose of EGR - to reduce combustion chamber temps to reduce oxides of Nitrogen output. There is no harmful effect on performance.
