I had placed 3rd behind a factory prepped 350Z and a local Winston Cup car. I thought that I was doing pretty well...pedaling as fast as I could when "boom, bam, burn".
Yikes...my condolences! At least your OK, will the insurance cover it due to the fact that you were road racing? I certainly hope so. There are many things I love seeing in my rear view mirror, but I would say that what you have there is probably the most frightening.
Were you able to ascertain how your fuel lines caught fire? I know that about 99% of us still have the OEM plastic feed/return lines.

in 94..there was a recall on the fuel line routing. it was laying against a hot valve by the manifold. i almost toasted my 94 TA GT but i saw what was going on and strapped it off.....
I'd bet most of these fires are do to mods like headers and mods to the throttle body letting the lines hang too low to the exhaust manifold. I have a STB and have tie wraped my lines to it leaving pleny of clearance between them.

also it might be a good idea to put heat wrap over the lines that are running over the manifold if you have headers just for good measure.
