This has to be done with specialized equipment. But worth the money

Yeah, I used Chevron Techron. I just did alot of stop and go driving which with our emissions systems is very bad as far as heat hardened deposits.

The last long road trip (to Bowling Green :-) ) got me about 27-29 mpg highway. The stop and go stuff gets me about 18 or so.

Do you have the stock gears or did you swap them out? Running a different cam? Something else major?

I'd say it's certainly possible to get milage like that, but you'd have to be idling the car a lot, heavy on the gas, or a combination of the two.

Are you using high octane? Have you tried fuel injector cleaner? It helps. I used it on my V6 after 35,000 miles and there was a definite, noticable difference. You can't rely on the cleaner in the gas.

My absolute worst city milage with the 3.42 gears in has been 17mpg.

All I do is Highway Driving...then again, if you live in Atlanta (close enough to claim Atlanta)...all you do is drive on the highway. Me personally...I've seen 27 mpg. But I hover around 23-25 all day.
I always fill my gas tank up when it hits the 1/4 left mark, and it ranges from 150-250 miles per fill up depending on whether or not I drove up to towncenter a couple times or not.

Live 3 miles from work but it still takes 15 minutes to get there, pretty much all of it stop and go. But thats cause I live *in* atlanta... not 30 miles outside of it.

I find it funny however that I can get to pretty much any part of downtown, midtown, buckhead, the highlands, or ansley park in about 15 minutes or less... but it takes me 30+ minutes to get anywhere noteworthy OUTside atlanta?

Atlanta's not the problem... its the mf'ing suburbs that screw everything up.

ps dj taso, i like your sig picture... once my ws6 hood gets here i'm gonna rip you off hardcore and do the same thing

As far as i know the car is completely stock, hmm excessive idling not really, i step on it once in a while but WOT is rare, I used to get a fuel odor coming from driver side rear wheel during the summer when idling after the car warmed up or when coming to a stop. ALways use 92 or higher, Ill give the fuel injector cleaner a try.. thanks

My car gets 23 on the highway and uses a lot more gas around town, but I don't know how much.

Wow, it sounds like a bunch of us LT1 guys are getting crappy milage. I once ran an entire tank out in 6th gear and I got 20. I need to get my fuel system checked out but dang, money is pooring out of me like a sieve. Everything I own needs something.

Sometimes I feel that way too. All of my little mechanical children are sucking the life out of me - they are always needful of new parts or batteries or fluids or TLC time. There's a lot of people that think I'm nutz and I can remember one time when I had 2 cars & 2 bikes (like now ) and nothing was running, so had to bum a ride to the parts store to get something running...
