Just an update.. Went to the other CC store today as the first one had sold me the last remote they had. First remote was an opened package so I figured it may have been "exchanged" for a non functioning one and returned .
The tech tried a couple of times to program and was going to give up when it chirped and came alive. This almost makes up for the botched up stereo job the other store did on my sons GTP a few years ago. I tried the interior motion sensor and it works great.
Being a convertible this is a must in Fla.
Now all I need is a manual to see if I can tweak the shock sensor,as it went off OK until I tied down the brain box.
Is it best to strap the brain box down in a horizontal postion?
thanks for getting me this far.

BTW the brand X store I first went to also wanted $10 over the price of remotes to "program " them. That would have been $120 for 2 remotes programmed. Some times it pays to shop around.

Actually, sometimes it's best to ask on the internet and get a DEI factory trained technician

There should be an adjustment screw on the side of the brain to adjust the sensitivity of the shock sensor. The brain should be strapped to a large wiring harness, NOT to the column. If you mount it to steel it will be sensitive in that one area but not on the rest of the car. Make sure you set it kinda low, you don't want it going off every thunderstorm or a cat breathes on it. The last time mine falsed was about 2 years ago when lightning hit a tree 2 houses up

it is strapped with tiewraps to the main wiring harness but is in a flat position.
Should it be positioned to where the writing is upright?
I remember the internal magnet has an arrow on it and was wondering if it works best in upright position. Next step would be to add another external sensor.
I cant even get it to fire off when I shake a tire to the point that it rocks entire car.

It's not a motion sensor, it's a shock sensor. Shock sensors pick up sharp impacts, like somebody trying to break the glass. Motion sensors pick up the car being moved around, like towing, stealing wheels, etc. Proximity sensors pick up movement around the car, like approaching the windows. You truthfully need all three for optimum protection. Shaking the car should not set off a shock sensor. Try hitting the window with the heel off your hand and see if that sets it off.
