need help installing LT1 Engine Fuel Covers

just got them in today, they look great. they come with four studs. fuel covers and studs are original GM parts. anyone installed them have tips ? link of pic included

I'm with Kevin... I think vette covers might look kinda poseresque.

The link in the above post has a good idea in it. Use filler on the covers to fill in the corvette name and paint them the color of your car. Add a firebird or Camaro sticker and you are all set.

I just might do this someday.

It is OK for me to do it, but nobody else can.

Besides, SS cars came with rims like mine. They are not exclusively Corvette. I am in the process of making "Z" badges for the centercaps.

Guys.....need to know if you guys agree that using the corvette LT1 fuel covers is poseresque ??? I just want my LT1 to look nicer. really have not done anything to my engine to dress it up. Replies very welcome.
"P.s. this forum does influence me I used to have some altezza 3 Gen. taillights on my Z28. But after reading some posts here I decided to remove them. I instead did a 97 conversion on my 95. it does look much nicer after thinking about it."

LOL! Oh yeah, I remember that a while back! Sorry if I gave you a hard time about the lights, but Im glad you came to your senses! j/k I dont think the Fuel Rail Covers should be an issue, they really make a difference with regards to appearance on the LT1. I think RK Sport sells em w/out the corvette emblems. Then again, you could always try and pry them off...

My concern would be that the covers may increase the heat levels under the covers, reducing the life span of the injectors. One could argue that the Corvette seems to survive the covers, but I think the F-Body has a more severe problem with high under hood heat levels.

I don't think its going to be a problem, but just not sure if its a good idea. Not objecting on "cosmetic" grounds.... I have a red intake manifold and ZR1 wheels......

It is possible to clean up the top of the engine a little, and polishing the fuel rails and the top of the intake can offer a nice look.

If you are wanting to dress up your motor, I would spend my money on some nice polished valve covers instead of the fuel rail covers. You can find a nice set of polished valve covers for about $110-$120 on the net. Do a search for "LT1 valve covers".

As f-body owners, we give the "ricers" crap for applying cosmetic changes to their cars that make their car appear to be something different. Usually a better model. I think putting Corvette fuel rail covers on your Z falls under the same category. I mean do what ever makes you happy. I am just throwing out my opinion.

Those are SWEET valvecovers. I do like the idea of fuel rail covers too, but I would fill and paint them after fitting them. High gloss black with Z-28 emblems would look sweet next to those polished valve covers. You could also do like Fred mentioned and polish the intake manifold in places too. You can also get custom plates for the top of the TB. I dont think they are rice, though... after all the vette comes with them stock, and the vette is not ricey. Get creative and have some fun.

Hey I've been to car shows where my car outclassed every f-body there but I lost to cars with mirrors in the inside of the hood and little stuffed animals and magazines and crap all over the engine bay on stock ls1 cars. If you want to put corvettes stuff on your engine, go ahead. It is mostly a vette engine anyway except for the 4-bolt mains and a few other minor differences. I agree that the fuel covers might keep in the heat, so in that respect, you might lose a little performance from heat soaking the manifold, fuel rails & injectors, but cosmetically, it looks clean because it covers up a lot of crap. I'm thinking of doing it myself - I like vette stuff on my car - it's all in the family anyway. If I go to the track, though, they would come off.

Didn't know that I would loose performance if I installed them. That would definitely make me reconsider installing them. as for modifying them. I'm going to get them painted red and the corvette filled like someone mentioned before. it will look awesome for sure!!
