  • Suspension mods for drag racing

Ok, I have the car jacked up, front wheels removed, and going to do lower ball joints and brakes...... I am going to drag the car more than drive it on the street starting this year ( if the weather ever warms up) and would like some suggestions on what do to with the suspension. Should I go to Summit and get the Eibach drag springs or go to T bYrne where he sells just the front drag springs? What about shocks? Summit has KYB AGX (I think thats what they are called) and they are 5 way adjustable, or once again T byrne has the HAL's on sale. I will get to the rear suspension as soon as the front is put back together. Thanks and any alternative suggestions are appreciated. RAY

KYB AGX are worthless for drag racing from everything I have read,if you were autoXing they would be a good choice.

The HAL's are the best for the application and get the springs that go with them to get the maximum out of the shock!!

definitely HAL QA1's. Can't beat 10 way adjustable compression/rebound settings!

Ok, so I should forget the eibach springs and get the HAL's and use my stock 1's for the rear and get the hal shocks all the way around. Thanks for the info guys.

The QA1/HAL front shocks are only intended to seat HAL springs. You can use the Eibachs, but you would need a custom seat, modifed from the stock seat. Thunder Racing sells them, or you can work from my diagram:

You can use about anything for the back. Stock, V6 springs, Eibach Drag Launch, etc. I have the Eibach Drag Launch in the back, which I got in trade for my stockers that went on the 30th SS convert. The Drag Launch springs raised the back end up another 1/2", making the already ridiciulous space between the fender and the tires even larger.
