I have a 160 stat now but can't afford to reprogram the computer now. Is it worth putting it in w/out the reprogram.

You don't have to do anything to the computer to install a 160° thermostat. It will keep the engine cooler as long as there is air flow across the radiator. I will put a fan switch in once I install the 160 stat. Or run the a/c. The second fan kicks on and keeps temps cooler than without.
