    Well,

I just got back from visiting the T/A at it's stint on the rack for some upgrades, and this is what we found

Good News: The suspension upgrade turned out great!!! The SFC's went on perfect and the control arms, panhard, and struts/springs were a perfect fit. All in all, an easy install.

Bad News: It appears that my strange numb spot in the steering is a loose rag joint. Now the shop tells me that the whole shaft must be replaced. Somewhere in the neighborhood of $250.00 or so. Not sure what to do about that yet.....

Worse News: The water pump is leaking from the weep hole!! Oh %^^%^&. That's the last thing that I wanted to hear. Oh well, looks like it's water pump and Opti time. Anyone want to chime in on how hard this was to do? As you can imagine, the labor book at the shop made me want to . I really don't want to spend that kind of money when I could do this.

Looks like I got some work to do. I got free beer for anybody that wants to help!!!!!

Stop... don't spend that kind of dough on a new steering shaft. You can get one from a boneyard like I did for $25.00. The install is half hour tops. or you could get a rag joint eliminator kit from unbalanced engineering for $32.

A water pump and opti is not that bad. I've done a few so I can walk you through it. I guess I'll have to pass on the beer though.

Thanks. It looks like a bear. Too bad about the beer, but that's what happens when you're out in 'the middle of nowhere'....

Appreciate the tip on the steering shaft. I'll check out unbalanced before I go bone-yardin'

Ordered. Thanks man. Looks like a good option to get rid of that stupid bushing.

p.s. Any hints on where to source a water pump and opti from for a reasonable price?

the water pump is not that hard bro. just make sure you get the gaskets on right , you dont want to take it off later because of that .
as far as price goes for the waterpump. its perty expensive.
the cheapest i found was 160 with a hook up i had.

The water pump and opti are very easy just a lot of stuff to take apart. It is the wires and plugs that are a real pain in the ***. You may want to do the wires while you have it apart; it makes it a whole lot easier.

Try either one of these for the pump and opti.

They both offer discounts to F-bod owners.
