Wow! I'm dissapointed somebody with the name "WS6 FREEK" doesn't know the performance difference between 93-02!

BTW, where in east tejas do you live?

Badging is the most obvious distinction.

I gotta question: Z28's have badging as standard stock, right? If that's true, either I see a TON of V6's, or people take them off.

the 98-02 have an LS1 which is a little more advanced rated at 305 hp and 320-325 for the Ws6

also the 98-02's have side fenders with flairs in them, different tailights

No I mean the difference between the Trans Am and the Formulas besides the appearance. If not, whats the point?

I live about 30 miles north of tyler. I am a true FREEK, but I was just wondering the difference between the 93-97 trans ams and formulas besides the front clip. I mean to me the Trans Am's just look better and I dont see why anyone would get a formula if the option for a TA was available.

It's just a matter of people's taste. Why did people buy Mustang LX's when they could of gotten a GT?

              I'm honestly wondering this myself.

What's the difference between a normal Formula and a normal Trans Am?

This will start an argument, that's why nobody's answering.

The formula is faster because it weighs less.

Why can I say that? The TA wing and front clip weigh more than the corresponding Formula parts, not to mention the side skirts. Also, the TA base package includes many more options than the Formula, which adds weight. Now you can get a Formula with everything the TA has, except for the body differences. So, technically the Formula is faster because it weighs less.

The "TA looks better" is personal opinion. I got the Formula because I think it looks better, and also because everybody thinks its a Firehawk

How many miles are on the car in question?

I was wondering - how many 1997 Formula WS6s were built with the six speed, cloth interior, and without t-tops?

                  Thanks,
                  Jeff

I mean to me the 1998 and up firebirds just look better and I don't see why anyon e would get a 93-97 if the option for a 98+ was available. The 98's have far more power and just plain look better. Why did you buy a 93-97 when the 98's were obviously available?

Now don't anyone take the above statement seriously, I was just saying it to make a point. To me, Formulas look nicer than trans ams. TA's have a meaner, more aggressive look to them, while the formulas have a sleeker, sexier look to me. Plus as its already been stated, formulas are faster. Thats why the firehawks are based on the formula model and not the trans ams.

Then there's the people that say they dont like formulas because they look like V6 firebirds. Well so what? V6 firebirds certainly aren't ugly, they're one of the sexiest cars on the road today... if someone's going to LOVE one edition of a car, but HATE another, simply because of the difference in spoiler height...

And besides, the more people that mistake my formula for a v6, better for me I say! Just wipes that grin off their face all that much faster when I smoke them like its nothing.

It's just a matter of people's taste. Why did people buy Mustang LX's when they could of gotten a GT?
well thats different... thats like saying "why would people buy Firebirds when they could have gotten a Formula/Trans am?" that ones obvious, the engine. People bought LX's cause

                    1) they are blind (sorry, all foxbodies are uuuugly
                    2) they are cheaper
                    3) they didn't need a V8

Dang. owned on me then... I thought LX meant the (was it 4cylinder?) non-v8 version.

So what IS the diff between the LX and the GT? Did they actually look different?

Between 85 and 92 I know they put the 5.0 in the LX. It looked like a base LX. It just had the 5.0 badge on the fender.

LT1 WS6 cars got the same exhaust as any other LT1. Just the tips were changed.

I ordered my 96 WS6 Formula with cloth, 6spd, and hardtop. Had the 1SC package, 10 speaker CD, and power seat. Pretty much loaded.

Talking to Matt Murphy back in 97, there weren't too many hardtop, 6spd Formula WS6's made.

Just curious but have you made sure that's a true WS6 car?? On the RPO sheet it should say WS6. If it doesn't, that's a clone.
