Im so tired of this reasoning......it would be great if cops pulled people over that were genuinely endangering other people. Im sure this is the case sometimes, but it too bad thats not the case most times.

Every time ive been pulled over it has been for breaking the LETTER of the law, not the ESSENCE of the law. Doing 67 on a 55 mph highway is breaking the letter of the law. Am I endangering others on the road? NO! If I was, then I would be violating the essence of the law - the reason why the law was put there in the first place. We ALL know that most tickets are not "protecting other drivers". Its REVENUE! So, save it. I fight them all. Was I doing 67 in a 55? Damn right. Was I endangering anyone? NO! So, thats why I fight - and win. Like I said before - ive been driving fast, high profile cars since I was very young and got pulled over and ticketed more times than I can count, (actually over 30) - Have I ever been pulled over for racing or driving real fast? No, but Ive been profiled as a young guy with a fast car, and thats deserving of a ticket. Guess how many points on my license? None. I have learned how to work the crooked system - just to get by.

As you can probably tell, I have very little respect for traffic cops. Not all cops. My grandfather is retired NYPD. HE has stories that will make your jaw drop - about protecting people, and chasing bad guys. Guess what...... of them involve pulling people over for speeding tickets. Real cops have better things to do.

Sorry but I doubt very much that you win using the :Am I endangering anyone" line. I've seen that tried before and it gets a laugh out of everyone in court. Thats for the imput AND laugh!

To N20LT. Let me get this straight. You state that "

"So, thats why I fight - and win. Like I said before - ive been driving fast, high profile cars since I was very young and got pulled over and ticketed more times than I can count"

So I guess all those cops just had it in for you? SOunds like a paranoid problem to me. Also sounds like you have a problem with authority. Laws are for everyone out there. Why don't you just try to obey them for once so you don't DRAW ATTENTION TO YOURSELF and "get ticketed more times than you can count."

I'm tired of people using the excuse that it's my car that got me in trouble. Please. Everyone is always shunning the blame to someone or something else!

Well I think I'm done on this one here. I started out trying to give some help and insight but I don't want this thread to turn into a cop bashing thread. There's just too many "hotheads" out there that will always want to debate.

I don't think anyone on this forum is going to bash cops. But as you stated yourself, most lawabiding citizens' only interaction with the police is when they get pulled over. Views can get skewed. Everyone here knows what cops do for the public, I think there are just some frustrations being vented. I've been driving nothing but f-bodies in some form since I was 16. In 10 years I've been pulled over 4 times, and every single time I was in the wrong. Was I endagering anyone, like N2OLT says? I guess that depends on your viewpoint. Is 51 in a 35 endagering? If your kid ran out in front of me and I couldn't stop in time becasue I was doing 51, you might say yes. We all have to remember that traffic laws, speed limits included, are there for a reason. That's not to say I obey them, not at all. But if you get caught breaking the law, why not just admit you did it?

My normal cruising speed is about 80 in a 65. If I ever get pulled over for it, you can bet I'll be trying my best to get out of it right there, but once that ticket is in my hands, it's over. I've been caught. If you're not willing to pay the price, just don't speed. Or don't get caught!

I have alot of friends here in Texas that are law enforcment, and I mean alot. PD, Sheriff's, Brass........you name it. I talk to them fairly regularly about their jobs and some of their interesting stories.

There are good cops out there no doubt, and I have the utmost respect for them.....but unfortunately at least here in TX there are even more corrupt cops. You wouldn't believe how corrupt some of these departments really are. You would never think the same about cops after hearing how things "really are" behind closed doors!

Profiling exists on a daily basis. It is actually taught! There is a big scandal currently involving San Antonio PD for racial profiling. It was discovered that there has been an increase in hispanic and african-american people being pulled over but the officer reported them as being white!!

There are bad cops and there are good cops. It is shamefully and unfortunately becoming more in favor of the bad.

It is no wonder why more and more people are starting to have doubts as to the competency and moral requirements of a trafiic cop.

Well my experience w/ the officer in this particular case wasn't that bad. When I was pulled over for the ticket for the ticket the officer was courtious. I have nothing against the officer, but I believe he was working a speed trap. I came to this assumption because of the multitude of other bike cops hanging out in the same area as him. I don't think he had anything against me personally, in fact I believe he was the one who orignally gave me the advice to go to court if I felt I was innocent. I just wish he was around when I had a 5,000$ stereo stolen from my old car. Overall I belive officers are just people and some are good and some not so good. My real problem in this case is that I thought I was lied to by the prosecutor.

ok i may be a noviece driver only had my license for 1 month and a handful of days but i have been pulled over three times already for speeding, but i was always taught treat others the way you would liek to be treated well one day i was out int the middle of the country when a cop pulled me over for loud exhaust and then had me get out of the vehicle and proceeded to search me and then asked me if i had any weapons and i told him no and then he asked if he could search my car and i told him yes but he was just waisting my time and his and keeping me out past curfew and he said ''im just doing it for my safety and yours'' how is it for my safety? and he searched my vehicle and while trying to do it couldnt figure out my power locks which i thought was rather funny needless to say he found nothing and he came back and let me off with a warning and on the written warning he wrote that he didnt search my vehicle but he also checked thta he didnt find anything if he didnt search me then how didnt he find anything? then another time i got pulled over was by a wanna be town cop who has nothing better to do than pick on the kids with loud cars and stuff like that and he said cusswords and he also said some things like i drive like a maniac and he was disgusted with the way i treat my vehicle and the only thing that bothers me about him pulling me over is that all three of his brothers are alchoholics and they drive around hammered all the time and he NEVER would pull them over and that right there gets my goats how can he say i drive liek a maniac and criticize the way i drive my car and mantain it while his brothers drive around hammered everywhere they go...? i fidn no justice in that my point being that not all cops are fair and some of them are bout as crooked as a country road, and they dont only profile ''fast looking'' cars they also prfile cars that look like crap so dont think you guys in your fats cars have it bad drive my car around fo ra month and see how much attention it gets ya if this makes no sense to you sorry but i thought id thorw my .02 in and a couple stories along with it

nathan, I think that post could go into the book of world records for the longest sentence ever!

And when the cop told you it was for your safety and his, he was right. If there was anything that even resembled a weapon in that car, you could've gotten hurt. That's not the real reason he wanted to search though, he was looking for drugs.

Im not saying that cops had it in for me. Im just saying that I could be cruising down the highway, maintaining the normal cruise speed, in a pack of cars, and my car would be picked out and ticketed; this has happened to me before. I have been pulled over for loud exhaust, obstructed view (air fresheners), etc. Give me a break. I wouldnt say that they had it in for me, I was obviously being profiled though. If it happens to you enough, you start to get very tired of it.

You can doubt that I win, but I do. The sytem is designed to make money, so if you hinder the ability of the sytem to make money, most of the time they push you through and you get what you want. Oh and as far as using the "im not endangering anyone line", obviously this wouldnt stand up in court. But, there are many good ways to beat a ticket.

Im glad you got a good laugh too; but its not really funny. This country was not meant to be policed to death. We dont need Johnny Law lurking behind every corner for your view to be obstructed by an air freshener, or telling you what kind of exhaust you should be running on your car. If you think thats funny, im sorry.

Let me first say that im not the maniac punk kid that you are picturing in your head. Do I have some fun with my car on the street? Yes, but who here doesnt? I dont street race, I dont drive 85 mph down the highway. I dont wear my hat sideways and recline into the backseat when im driving - you guys know what im taling about Im a pretty responsible guy - 24 yrs old, im teacher, married, own a house, go to church, the whole bit.....so please dont insult me like a 16 year old punk kid.

I have never been an irresponsible driver. I happen to be young (not so much anymore), and have a loud, flashy, fast car like most people here. My point is this -- You shouldnt have to be harrassed becasue of your car and your age. You dont have to be doing something wrong to get a ticket......If I was a cop, I could probably find a ticketable offense with 80 percent of the cars on the road.

As I get older, this is less of an issue. My driving hasnt changed, just my age, but I rarely get stopped now. I have been profiled, and thats what I have a beef about. Most police are taxmen, not the service people we need. This is what upsets me.

P.S. I dont have a driving record - 0 points. Innocent until proven guilty. The most Ive ever had was 3 points on my liscense.
