i do 65--70mph everyday to work...thats on 2 lane roads with a speed limit of 55mph

what u have to ask urself is why is the speedlimit 55..for the most part speed limits are made for mild or moderate conditions on a road so that way some idiot in a hail storm isnt doing 70mph

but when theres no hail storm and u can see for miles the speed limit stays...at 55mph in both conditions is 55 optimal?? NO!

like 65 on the freeway...i know i can hold 95-110 in a modded 95 civic all the way to LA from sac with no problems at all

so to me speeding is only something i worry about when the V1 goes off otherwise i dont even look at the speedo i just do what the road lets me do

have a problem with it?? theres a cop at the doughnut shop down the street

sry to be such a prick just something that chaps my ass..along with the idiots that get all pissy when they see my subs

My first F-Body was when I was 18years old! It was one sweet car. I have to say I was never pulled over for the few years I owned the vehicle. It is not to say that some cops don't target. They unfortunately do. Also, racial profiling does exist, sorry to say.

There has been alot of good imput here and alot of what has been said(except for maybe 1 or 2 of you) is true some of the time.

N2O, one thing you have to realize is that the older generation is always going to look at the younger with a suspicious eye, especially when you work in a career where all you see is the bad side of life. I'm 26, and been driving f-bodies since I got my liscense and I've never once been harassed or targeted by the police.

Mike71, speed limits are not for moderate conditions. They are for optimal conditions. If it is raining, snowing, hailing, foggy, anything other than optimal conditions you are supposed to go UNDER the speed limit. It's what it says it is, a limit. Having said that, I've have to say I drive the same way you do, as fast as I feel comfortable, regardless of the speed limit. I just think you need to be aware of laws and the reasons for them. There could be not-so-obvious reasons why the speed limit is what it is on a particular road.... cross streets, driveways, large number of children in the area, blind curves, etc.... On freewyas, you have to remember that the state is required to keep the road safe for even the worst driver. You may be capable of safely driving 90-100 on a road marked 65, but someone else may not. And a cop can't afford to guess who's who. And young people cause a disproportionate number of accidents... there are numerous studies to support this and I'm not pinpointing anyone in particular.... just trying to show their may be a method to the madness out there in the law enforcement world.

You feel you're being targeted because you're young, well guess what, their may be a reason why young people get targeted. And cops can't distinguish between good drivers and bad drivers doing 90.

a 1967 327 Camaro! How sweet that must have been.

Now as for the SUV owners. I just recently drove to Florida from the Northeast. I can't tell you how many times I was passed by SUV drivers who were going about 80-90 MPH! Here they are driving a 5000pd plus vehicle doing speeds like that on tires that are not really made for those type of speeds! They are a fatality to happen.

Wolfman, you bring up a good point.

There is alot of talk amongst officers on how SUV drivers are getting out of control with their monster machines. (hint, profile, hint)

If anything, sports cars are secondary. I can tell you this. If I had a choice to stop two speeding vehicles coming at me and one was a sport car(I dont care who's driving it) or the suv. I would definately target the SUV motorist.

Why? Because owners of sports cars, in most cases, know their vehicle and the limitations of them. That's why we buy them. We love to drive;the sports car was designed for those speeds and the operator, due to the vehicle, could get out of a bad situation.

SUV motorists are barreling down the freeway with a land yacht. In total disregard for what they are traveling in and the damage that they will inflict on the other operator. Accident avoidance in a SUV? Yeah right.

Dave M. you bring up very valid points. I also would like to add the following. Although we may feel comfortable driving 80-90 mph, think of the person ahead of you in the right hand lane. Who are they? Can they safely judge a speed! Most people can't judge how fast someone is coming at them. That's a reason for alot of accidents with people pulling out in front of someone. Who here has experienced that! Yes! All of you. So when that other motorist looks in his side mirror and sees you what he thinks is far down the road, which it probably is, he gently pulls into your lane.

Now here's the problem. Say we are going 80 mph which is over 117 feet per second! In no time at all we got a problem!

So people please remember. WE may feel comfortable doing what we are doing, but remember who else is on the road!

WOW! "Go live in another country"

One of the rudest, most thoughtless, and dumbest comments I have heard on this board in a long time.

In case you have forgotten, which it seems painfully obvious that you have, we live in a country founded by freedom. Freedom that we are allowing to slip away by allowing our nation to become policed.

NOBODY is required to like the laws in this country!! This is why we as individuals are allowed to vote my friend.

I absolutely agree. I just wanted to place emphasis on the "not having to like them" part.
