As I stated earlier, being one from law enforcement, I have to agree that it's becoming a "police state" out there. It is unfortunate. With the events of 9-11. It's going to get worse than better.

To be totally honest, on my drive to Florida, it was totally rediculous to see 3 or 4 State Troopers in the median taking turns to pull vehicles over. You can name the State. I saw that practice in Delaware, Carolina's.

    Talk about revenue collectors!

I have alot of respect for police officers in general, being that I have a close friend in law enforcement and it happens to be my dream job, but I guess there are those who write tickets more than anything else. But, going off of my own experience, I have received a few tickets in the 11 years that I have been driving and I can say that I deserved every one of them. However, I have been given more "warnings" than tickets. I think the reason for this is that when I get pulled over, I am as respectful and honest as possible with the officer. That kind of thing goes a long way when you consider that a vast majority of the people they pull over with deny all charges, give the officer attitude, tell them rediculous things like..."I was breaking the letter of the law, not the essence of it" ( ) and stuff like that. They are just doing their job and they don't need one more person to make their job any harder.
Now as far as traffic cops......yeah, they write alot of tickets. Why? Uhmmm...it's their job? Maybe? Ya think? I mean, someone has to enforce the laws, and you can't enforce the laws by having someone shake their finger at you as you go by, or pull you over and ask politely that you slow down, or stop cutting people off, or stop driving on the shoulder, or use your signals, etc. etc. I mean, come on.....they serve a purpose. Give 'em a break. The drunks drivers and drugs they take off the streets are reason enough for me to have them out there.

Todd, the "best arrests" come from traffic stops. I know. I made alot of them during my career.

Todd, I forgot. Being honest and having respect will 95% of the time get you out of the ticket.
