    V tech tuning

    A buddy of mine has recently purchased a 94 Camero that has a "V TECH Tuning" emblem on the rear bumber. We need to know if anyone knows where we can find out more information in regards to this??? We have found out only that the computer has been programed differenly than standard cars to offer more performance.

      I would say yes if we talking about a Honda..but does the same hold true for General Motors??? Any idea where we can did up so information????

        ROFLMAO... OMG, that is funny. remove the sticker and place it properly in the nearest waste recepticle... some ricer must have thought that was cool. I've seen it all now.

        A VTECH sticker on a f-body... what a discrace.

        VTEC (which stands for Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) is an electronic and mechanical system in some Honda engines that allows the engine to effectively have multiple camshafts. As the engine moves into different rpm ranges, the engine's computer can activate alternate lobes on the camshaft and change the cam's timing. In this way, the engine gets the best features of low-speed and high-speed camshafts in the same engine.

          Just curious.... how did you determine that the program in the PCM was not "stock"?

            VTEC is the Honda timing technology

            V TECH is a toy company. My kids have a few toys with that logo on them.

            either way the sticker is funny.



            You'll need to look more carefully at the cars PCM to see if it was really reprogrammed. I find it extremely unlikely. Is there a sticker on the PCM with any information on it regarding the new program?

            Is this a V8 car? very seldom does someone bother to reprogram the PCM on a V6 car.

              He was told this by a parts guy at a GM dealership....he was inquiring about reprogramming the tranny and the guy told him it was already programmed to provide harder shifts.......I dunno guys, but the decal is not a decal it's a nice looking color emblem.

                Parts guys at dealerships arent really all that knowlegable as far as stuff like that goes. They are not mechanics, or in any way technical. All they do is manage the parts inventory. I would never listen to information from a parts employee, unless it is specifically about a "part".

                    hmmm. I'd bet 95% it is just some ricer sticker... But the only way to know for sure would be to use LT1 edit to dump the PCM contents into a notebook PC and look them over.

                      Are you sure that the emblem doesn't say - Tuned by G-Tech -
                      These stickers are orange and silver, and come with the purchase of a G-Tech performance meter.

                              THis would be like putting an SVT badge on a corvette......When its actually on a Honda, its not so bad. Ive got a student with a turbo charged V-tech (in a civic) running 118 mph in the quarter.
