Your right but there are some affairs that we dont always need to go play police in all the time...we have a lot of domestic problems that we could be using that manpower and money to fix. I understand why lack of democarcy in the world threatens our peace...Not to be selfish but what do we get out of it...we pretty much occupying the entire middle east region...yet gas prices are higher than ever and on the rise....ironically about that comment...there was one country we didn't give back to its people...it was America. heh funny to think about though...anywho i'm on y'alls side...i've fought in the beginning of this war over there...
I kind of thought you might have. That is why I tried to word what I said in a way not to provoke a fight.

I do like a good debate. I try to keep up with what is going on.

I wish we could spend more time at home dealing with our own internal affairs but unfortunately the rest of the world has shown they won't deal with it.

I heard that the French history books fails to give all the details of WWII. That goes a long way to explain why they are the way they are now. I heard that the history books they found in Iraq were a lot worse. I wonder if this is true in a lot of other appeasement countries. That may explain why they did not learn the lessons of history in regards to ruthless dictators of the past. Just imagine what the world would be like now if the US had stayed out of all of the worlds affairs (like the liberals now want us to do) in the 20th century.

Well back to what Wolfman said, I agree. First and formoast we need to think of ourselfs. Me, Our great country and our fellow country men over there fighting. Everything else should be secondary. Our men are dying over there day in and day out for them! If it takes frying a little testy to save an americans life I say fry it up!!!!! We didnt start this war and it will never really end. But with great power comes great responsability. And to refer to what was said before " they still have there heads and health". I can only imagine having a loved one beheaded on tv. But thats the type of evil we are fighting over there. And if other country's cant see that.. well screw'em. We know what needs to be done and we are the only ones that seem to be doin it. You know I dont agree with all that Bush has done but I can respect him for finally doing something about it. He isnt perfect at it and makes some bad decisions but I wouldnt want to be in his shoes.

Id Fry all there little tiny testies if it was going to save an americans life.

Yea we did a pretty good job of hijacking this thread.

I don't understand how you can even compare the Abu Grab-e thing to what Saddam did in the same prison. It's apples to oranges. I can't believe what they are complaining about saying you can't do this or that. It has been proven that sleep depravation is the best way of getting information. People get so tired they forget what not to say. That's why I say it's easier to tell the truth because I can't remember a lie and the truth will eventually come out.

I'm surprised that so many people in this thread are so obviously overlooking the arguments from the other side. It isn't that I agree with them per se... but I need to play Devil's Advocate in here, just so that many of you understand why we are looked at as "evil" or "ignorant".

The big major #1 reason European nations consider us "evil" is that they believe the WMDs, treatment of Iraqi civillians by Hussein, and Kuwait were SMOKE SCREENS for the underlying motives of this war - OIL. We are seen as the world's big and powerful nation who attakced an already crippled, 3rd world country for its oil. We killed their troops, civillians (by accident, but it still happened), and the country is currently in disarray and many believe the lawlessness is a worse situation for the Iraqi people than they were in before.

The fact that the French think we are evil doesn't bother me in the slightest. I could not care less what those people think of us. However, when the majority of Europe holds similar viewpoints, this should raise concern. There is an old concept which says, "when everyone else is telling you that you are wrong, you probably are." I do think the waning world opinion of us demands we take a long hard look at ourselves in the mirror, and do some soul searching.

In regards to "if torturing the Iraqi prisoners saves one US life..." concept, I could not disagree more. Our only valid basis for going in to Iraq was to liberate people from an oppressive, maniacal dictator, and show them what it means to have a free nation. Then we turn around and torture them? So much for Western morals and ideals... looks like the same-old oppression and cruelty to me...

As far as the media is concerned... if you guys really think our media is so biased and sensationalized, I invite you to take a trip to Europe. Spend just a week there, and you will know exactly what I am talking about. Remember when the first American was be-headed? I was in London then... on the front page of a newspaper was a 4-picture, before-during-and-after spread. Unreal.

With all that aside, I do believe our cause for going to Iraq was just, and that we have done a good thing. If the world truly doesn't appreciate it, then we really should stop spending ALL money on foreign aide and "peacekeeping" missions. It's time to let them solve their own problems.

I understand that everyone is heated still about the Iraq issues. I would like to say that the country of Iraq is not a bad place. And befor i get everyone all fired up with that statement let me tell you that i was there for 5 months last year during the "WAR" and i know that more Americans have died since the "WAR" was over that did while it was going, the people of Iraq are just like us for the most part. They want a good life and they want there children to grow up safe just like we do. This has been a "WAR" of convinence for a small group of very well trained militance from all over the world to kill Americans for what they believe is right. I am by no means defending there actions and I dont think there right how ever i do think that Iraq is better now for the people then it was 18 months ago. I will tell you that the children are wonderful and the people that i came in contact with were very nice and thankful. Iraq is not bad the small small number of insergents are what have given them a bad name.

guess we can forget that it took you 3 years to get into that war

guess we can forget that america ATTACKED the Dominican Republic in 1974

guess we can forget about all the american slaves that we saved

I just take offence to people saying that canada does nothing, we are involved in more theaters round the world than the US, We are the LARGEST pease keeping force in the world and we have a DRASTICALLY underfunded military. Canada spends almost triple per-capita on foreign aid than the US.
