It felt more like hitting a jump ramp. I literally caught air. Took a week's worth of washing to get all the gator guts off the wheels and inner fender liners. It wasn't a small one either. Best guess was about a 7 footer.

I hit a deer with my first 1984 TA at night, so for the rest of the night i had a search light, one of the headlights was bent upwards, the deer lived but was stumbling.

          Well,

I was doing about 80 on some back country roads in NC when outta nowhere came this deer. I had a deer hit me in my 95 Formula, put nice big holes in the passenger door where the antlers poked through. Snapped the poor things neck. Major damage to bird, had to replace the door and passenger seat.

A bunch of pigeons at school, I dont have as many kills as you old timers but one morning I was going to my parking spot at the end of the school parking lot and theres the usual ammount of pigeons and other birds there. Also a couple seagulls I think cause the parking lot is sort of a dock as well. Well this was like a repeat of Seinfeld cause i was goin 20mph and these pigeons didnt budge, only a couple died tho so it wasn't that bad.

I've hit two red-winged black birds out of the sky in the 99 vette, and about a week ago a possum made a run across the street and I drove right over it in the Jeep Wrangler. Luckily for the possum, it went right underneath my axles, missed the differentials, and never skipped a beat on the run across the street.

Well my tally includes a bird in flight on the interstateand a squirrel on the interstate.

I once hit a dead dog taking an off ramp at night on my harley doin 50. I hit so hard that I almost endo'd the bike, but after the rear tire came off the ground, the front got airborn and the whole thing was in the air. I credit the mag wheels for getting me home alive. I almost threw up from the shock of what happenend.

When I was a kid, there was a dog that always chased me on my bike. He even ripped my pants a couple times. When I got a car, he still chased me. One day I took a bed sheet and stuffed one end under the driver's side rear hubcap and went trolling for him about 30 mph with the sheet trailing behind. I waited til he ran after me and caught the sheet in his mouth, then I floored it and dragged him half a block. Didn't kill him, but taught him a real good lesson.

Then a near miss: Last weekend on the way to the car wash, a doe bounded out of a field and just flew raindeer style acrooss the road about 100' in front of me. A dump truck coming the other way hit it straight on in the grill while the deer was in mid-flight. The deer then was sliding about traffic speed (45 or 50) in front of the truck until the truck ran it over. The whole thing took 3 seconds. It made a real loud crunching sound which creeped me out. I looked back and it was a pile of meet. The trucker stopped, I just kept on going and was lucky it wasn't me.

Personally, I do everything I can to avoid hitting an animal short of wrecking my car. I don't like technology killing them - their lives are hard enough. You always have to eyeball road kills because there might be animals eating it. Coons are slow, and possums are slow & blind. Squirrels can't make up their minds, and birds underestimate their takeoff speed and often get caught up in the slip stream. Yeah, I try to avoid hitting them, but if its them or me...

I haven't hit anything in my car, but I had my roomates 01 bullitt and ran over a bird with it and had feathers stuck in his undercarraige and in the front bumper, I cleaned it up the best I could with out him noticing, but there's a scratch from the birdy and that's what fords get anyway! Jk I like his car.
