  • He drove a focus what was he thinkin?

    Funny story...
So i'm at a stop light in my WS6 and this White Focus next to me gunsss it and i accelerate normally(which put me a car and a half length behind him and my friend looks at me and says "hes prolly gonna go tell all his friends that he just smoked a trans am." I was like "Your right." So we approach another stop light he guns it again I gave him a slight head start and didn't punch it too much. I paced him shifting early just to tease him...when we got to 50 he start pullin on my car(only because i was toying with him) and it would appear he was pullin on me and winning....so I drop to second and that was the last of the focus ....it was at night with minimal traffic and we didn't exceed the speed limit by very much at all....so all in all it was an entertaining display of American Muscle for the little guys who think their cars are the fastest thing on the planet.

Thats the hard thing about driving one of these cars......everyone and their brother wants to race you. Sometimes its fun to teach them a lesson or two.

It does really happen all the time. Even when your not trying to race at all, just pulling away from a light at normal speed, then they start pointing over as they are ahead of you. It's frustrating sometimes, everyone always wanting to race.

nobody really messes with me when I'm in the camaro. No hondas or any 4 bangers really.

Everybody revs at my conquest. I hate to say it, but a lot of people were camaro and mustang drivers. I lost count as to how many Z28's and GT's the conquest has roasted. It is fun messing with the little guys when they wanna play games.

I just ignore it or laugh at them. Sometimes I just wave. Some guys just want to see you run your car or do a burnout, others want to race. Chances are you'll never see them again, so why take a chance getting a ticket trying to impress somebody you will probably never see again? If you think it is a worthwhile race, then go ahead and do it, but do it because you want to, not because the other guy wants you to. Besides, they look and feel stupid after a while of trying to race somebody who'se not interested. You can also motion them to pull over if the traffic allows it, then arrange a real race, or just ask to see a time slip and show them one of yours. See if a race is even worth while. If you let the adrenalin do your thinking for you, it's a sure way to get in a wreck or an expensive ticket. Those spur-of-the-moment races never really give you time to check around if it is safe or not. I mean, I've done it myself, but I usually feel later like It was a silly thing to do, and wish I hadn't. There's no denying it DOES feel good to go get a good kill once in a while. The most important thing in any street race, though, is knowing when to back off. Not lifting at the point of no return could get you or someone else killed or your car wrecked.

Thats very true. This wasn't really a race though...i twas him thinking he was racing me...then a quick show off of the power...conditions allowed it...good judgement was used...but i agree with you on what you said and i think we do need to be careful...for the most part i think everyone does

Yeah, I guess it wouldn't really be a race between a Focus & a Camaro, would it?

yeah, just watch out for those focus's that have swapped in a V8!

                  light car + V8 + traction = fast car

although compared to the "normal" focus or even the SVT focus, the V8 focus is a rare find.

Mayberry? Well, if you run out of things to do, you could allways go down to the motel and see who rented the room. Maybe you could drive up to Raleigh and find a race there. And go out for Chinese food too!!

Not sure what's up in my area. There have only been 2 camaro's rev at me and both were going the other direction. No ricers will even look at me at a light . Just yesterday was on a quick trip up to Cartersville, GA and a nice sounding 94 GT would not look my way (and lined up at 3 different lights with OPEN BACK ROAD to tempt him). I have owned the Z for over a year and drive it a couple of times a week (about 250 miles each week) and the only other story I have is from some dumb *** in a parking lot yelling "SLOW.... SLOW.... SLOW" at me to in insinuate his 93 cobra was faster than my 93 Z. If the wife was not with I would have enjoyed showing him a thing or 2.

Oh yea, I should add I never rev or push anyone for a Race. I just find it strange that I see all the stories here about kills and oppertunities and have to add.

Although I can say that I have a similar story. I just got the tranny in and the wife and I were going to Wally World and I got on it just a little, about 65 (in a 55) and look up to see the shades of Blue. As I handed the info over he angrily asked "What the he** is your hurry" I too said "just got it back on the road" he took my stuff walked back behind my car and came right back. He asked my wife if she approves of my driving and she just shook her head to which I replied "No officer, I will be hearing this on for the next week". He let me go with a "Slow it down" and a slight grin.

Used to be like that. A year ago, i couldnt get to work and back w/out someone wanting to go at it... but Nevada passed some laws, and i rarely find myself having the opportunity. They are really trying to crack down on it here. Too many kids being stupid... Its a good thing, just miss it sometimes, but i guess thats what the track is for!
