  • NFB: electrical work

I know this is a long shot, but does anyone know a good vehicle electrician in the Fresno area? The electrical on the GN is screwed up and its affecting the power brake system. If you keep the radio off, it lasts longer without blowing the fuse. But, a permanent fix is needed. Thanks in advance.

I don't get that one. How can electrical problems cause issues with the brakes? I thought the power brakes were controlled only by vaccuum, unless it has ABS?

For most other cars, you would be right. However, the GNs came with an electric power braking assist system that creates its own vacuum so as not to use vacuum from the motor. Thus, if someone screws up the electrical, as they have on mine, it could be quite dangerous.

If you're popping the brake fuse, that usually indicates a powermaster unit problem. Didn't you just swap that?
usually when the hydraulic motor starts to fail, you see more of that. How frequently does the motor run?

First, I believe its a brand new unit. Second, how would you find out how often the motor is running? Third, and here's what tells us its the wiring...by turning the radio off, the brakes start working normal again. Any ideas?

Also, is the radio clock supposed to stay on even when the car is off and key is out of ignition?
