  • v6 to B2L

Hey guys new to the forum and to f-bodies. Right now I have a 91 Camaro RS with the 3.1 V6. I have a 350 from a 91 Trans Am. What will I need to do to make the swap (y-pipe, exhaust, etc). Will the motor bolt up to my transmission or will I have to get one from a TA? TIA

for best results you should have a complete donar car to take parts from and also so you can see where it all goes.

Welcome to the forum. This question comes up here all the time. The answer is that it is not practical unless you have a complete running donor car. There are too many things that need to be changed. I did this exact conversion on a 1986 Camaro. I regreted it.

      You'll need at the minimum:

engine complete with injection and all accesories, belt drive, etc.
      engine harness and PCM
      transmission with TV cable
      engine mounts
      transmission crossmember
      radiator and hoses
      new guage package for V8
V8 front springs to support the extra weight
exhaust manifolds, y-pipe and catback for V8
      Limited Slip rear differential
I think the driveshaft can be re-used
      many other little misc. pieces

        Welcome to the forum...

I really, REALLY want to see a V6 f-bud try this engine swap instead of the V6 to V8 thing...

        LL8.

4.2L Inline 6 cylinder Chevy Trailblazer motor. Pretty large displacement for an inline 6... 4 valves, DOHC, with VVT. 270 base horsepower -- pretty significantly de-tuned.

I want to see someone do this some day
Former Ride: 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 - 345 rwhp, 360 rwtq... stock internally.

        Current Ride: 2006 Subaru Legacy GT Limited - spec.B #312 of 500
