Hi everyone, I just had a quick question and its pretty easy I just need to have someone elses opinion on this. I just had my car programed at More Performance and was wondering if I could finally get rid of all the wires I'm not using in my car? I've got A LOT of things unplugged and they are all zipp tied and I dont want them there anymore. I'm thinking I can just trace where the wires are and get rid of them right??

Which wires specifically are you not using anymore?

There you go! I didnt want to list EVERYTHING because that would take at least 40 minutes to type up! But the car is a 1996 Z28 with the same year motor. M6 for now but working on gettin the tranny out of the Buick. I dont have the air pump anymore and I was just wondering if I could take the wires out of the fuse box under the hood, trace them to where ever they go and take them out?I dont see where it WOULD be a problem.
Same thing for the interior, I've got these hugh bundles of wire for the air bags....yet, no air bags. So that why I am curious. Just looking to clean the gutted interior and engine bay of all the unplugged things. Thanks!1996 Z28 body, the rest...drag car

cool, i'll have to give it a try. I have so many freakin wires unplugged everywhere its beginning to drive me insane!
so im just going to trace the wires to the fuse box, take them out of the pins, ans then trace them to the pcm. should I cut them when I get to the pcm or should i try to remove them a little more properly?1996 Z28 body, the rest...drag car

awesome fastta, thank you very much! Ummm, I couldn't ever sell this car!I don't think anyone would want a ttop conversion 10 point rollcage car
.
But again...thanks a bunch and I'll have to tell you how it all went. Also want to clean up the engine bay a little more too before I rip the gas tank out and put in a fuel cell.
I've got the ac removed right now and I need to install my k-member and manual rack along with the manual brake setup I going to run. And I REALLY want to relocate the alternator but haven't found anyone locally here that has one. I know vendors sell them but they always ask for more than I'm willing to pay...if it costs alot, I'll usually just make it. But I am running out of time and looking for one.
If you know of a really great looking lower alt bracket...let me know!
Thanks again, I'll keep posting the upgrades!!1996 Z28 body, the rest...drag car

Yeah..someone mentioned that to me and I found a nice one from More Performance that I really like. Mike at More also said that someone makes another one that is similar to theres (running a short belt) and they are SJS or something like that...I forgot.
Actually...it crossed my mind to just run a 16v battery and ditch the alt seeing as its a track car. I might have to charge it after 6 or 7 runs...but its all gravy. Comments?1996 Z28 body, the rest...drag car

Your starting to make me think. Well, at least I know I do have more than one option to go with...that magneto drive is a nice system BUT, maybe a little too radical this year. Maybe next year! I just need to finish fabbin' my roll cage and finish up the interior before I get a little carried away with other things. Thanks for all your help though!
