  • 3 Dead in Fatal Crash Of My Old F-bod

I am sad to report that Yirian Alonso, his girlfriend, and his younger brother are dead after a crash that happened saturday Oct 2 2004. The weird thing is that I sold Yirian my 1998 red SS on Sept the 29th. I received a notice in the mail to get my car out of the impound lot in Miami Beach, FL. I live in Buffalo NY so naturally I called to see what was going on. That's when they told me the car was in a fatality. They have the news video on this site and to tell you the truth it is quite gruesome to see that much damage a person can do to themselves and their loved ones. Rest In Peace

Thanks Wolfman, I guess I am just a little stunned is all. He didn't even have the car a week. I am a 19 year old kid myself and I drove with the car with the thought in the back of my head that these cars do have a lot of power and do have the ability to get out of control.

Hey Chris man, I was shocked to hear about that when you told me. I'm sorry to hear that and thats gotta be a wierd feeling hanging over you....but just remember its not your fault they killed themselves. Its very tragic especially when kids are involved like that ...but it was the drag racing that did it ...not the car selling...it could have been a different car. Thats very tragic....I'll keep the families in my prayers as well as you buddy...

PS that link you posted didn't work for me...you sent me this one the other day...

Sorry to hear this, I tell people all the time theses cars are not toys. A lot of power in a novices hands can be deadly. We all also know how the back end can get away from you very quickly on these Z's. Peace.

What was that kid doing? I just don't get it. Ever since I have been able to drive, I would NEVER drive like that with passengers, I don't care who they are. I barely do races up to 60 on straight aways with my girl in the car. Drag racing is one thing, but doing it with 3 passengers in the car is just not using your brain. Now look at all the people suffering because of his choice. I feel for the passengers and their families...

mr wizzix? must be al...well just so ya know Al we dont resort to language like that and also dont flame members...speaking of gravel...
this is the same car...50mph routine driving around a 40mph curve hit the gravel on the side of the road lost control...

way to rub salt in the wound there
moral of the story...careful in these cars and drive responsibly...man being dumb with your car(racing, dui's, etc) kills more than just you...I'm definitely going to learn from their mistake.

You might want to contact/find a damn good lawyer.
The family might try to bring a lawsuit against you.

I'm sorry to hear that, but just like everyone here has said, it is not your fault. It's a shame that things like this have to happen, but sadly they do. You said you are 19, and I'm 19 as well. My friend said to me not that long ago a quote that has stuck in my head. He basically said we're starting to get to the ages of where we are going to witness and go through all the stories that our parents told to us. Stories about people dying in accidents, car crashes, dui's, things like that. When I was in high school, i definitely had a little bit of invinvibility feeling. It won't happen to me, or, what are the odds? I personally now know of 2 people that have died in accidents, a person who comitted suicide, and have seen my friends go through alot as well as have I. All i can say is that im glad i matured past that stage before i got my f-bod. These are cars with serious power that you have to respect. A guy i know said that when i got my car, to go test it's limitations in some open parking lot before i really start to drive it. So what i did was found a wide open parking lot, and did some things. I tried out a couple of donuts, i wanted to see how much gas i should give it on turns, how i could take turns, how i can go a lil sideways on turns but still keep control, knowing that if i punch it at 25 that i can still break my tires loose. I basically just got comfortable with the car before i really took it out. I now know my car because of doing things like that, and i know how easily you can loose control of these cars, thus the reason why i wont even take a dumb risk. I suggest this to anyone who is going to drive cars like ours for the very first time, it definitely helps you get a feel for the car.
Once again, I'm sorry to hear the horrible news. The families will be in my prayers.

I only make mention of the lawyer thing because of some legal issues -

Did you sell the car as is with no warranties? Do you have this in writing?

Did the buying party have it examined by a mechanic before sale?

Did you have modifications on the car?

Was the car safe/functioning? Can you prove it? Probably not.

What if the brakes were blamed? etc, etc.. find a lawyer man..

Nice......someone wanna zap this twit? Anyway, sorry to hear about that, bro. It seems like no matter what HS you go to, someone...at least eavery other year, is killed in an accident like this. The worst part is that it is totally avoidable. Hopefully, though, this will be a wake up call for alot of the kids there. Maybe this tragedy will keep alot more of the same from happening just by the sobering effect it will have on alot of people. God bless them and their families. I will be praying for them.

Sad to hear about this whole thing. It's not your fault at all man. Sometimes I wonder if people should take some kind of class to drive these high powered cars. Anyways keep your head up. All of your F-body buds are here for you man.
