Economist are saying that if Kerry guts elected, that debt will triple in 4 years if he gets all of his spending plans passed. Hopefully if he does get elected, the senate and the house will stay republican and he won't get his spending bills through. My wife says she likes to vote to keep the executive and the legislative branch opposite parties so they won't screw anything up. I can see her logic. LOL

That is a good point. Bush has not veto'd a single thing in 4 years as president. If Kerry gets elected it will not be the end of the world. It will be interesting to see what happens with the war on terror, though.

I'm really anticipating what is going to happen when the bulk of the "oil for food" facts become public. I think this is a HUGE story to burst. It is going to shock the world. Then again, the liberal press will poo-poo it down because it makes Bush look good. How can Kerry say he would had gotten more global involvement when it is proven that the countries in question were actually supporting the enemy?

The previous governor of California tried to convert so much so towards socialism that a lot of the businesses packed up and left. You can't blame them. They couldn't make ends meet operating there.

Funny thing about the taxes. Kerry filed a married but separate tax return for 2003. The effective tax rate of his return and his wife's was about 12%. With all of their millions of dollars, how did they get away with paying such a low tax rate?
Thanks for the link Jeff. I checked it out and it would have been good, except I don't have the experience they want...employers aren't willing to give me a chance, yet they are only looking those who have had "chances" or experience. Catch-22.

I don't blame those who left CA either. In fact, I just did some server room work for Siebel Systems, who is moving most of their company to Utah. I watched them go and vacate their huge buildings.

Anyway, Kerry is an attorney, right? That figures. Always finding loopholes screwing something up for the average person.

Most jobs are electrical engineering, IT or software related. Take my dad for instance. He used to work for NASA in Ohio, then moved out here and worked for Ford Aerospace (which turned into a different company). Recently, he was layed off. Considering he has so many years of experience, education, etc., he was a manufacturing/mechanical engineer. He could not find a job here at all. Nobody was willing to even look at him. He had to move to LA to get another job that pays 20% less. Considering if I switch to my other interest, "mechanical engineering" what makes me think I should spend another 4 years in college to hopefully get a job he couldn't even find. I believe if I persue a different area of no interest to me, I couldn't even make it. This is especially true here in the Bay Area, CA. Considering health insurance is costing me over $200/month, eye and dental extra, no 401K plans, no savings, etc...I cannot save a single penny. Also, considering there still is a demand for software/IT jobs, not too many are seen here anymore because they're going to India or China.
I am desperate, out of ideas, and in need. That's why I liked the statements he made during the debate. Bush's was irrelevant to me, which is why I didn't care for it. Maybe most won't agree with me, and say they're paying too much taxes. (But hey, Kerry did say he wouldn't raise taxes on < $200,000/year incomes, but that's irrelevant here and I don't support Kerry). But if the government would be willing to help my situation, I'll definitely take it. I'll admit, I won't say "don't raise taxes, I want to keep my crummy job."
          There's always barber college...

Honestly, I hate the direction our country is heading, but EVERYONE is to blame - companies, consumers, and government. I have had to change careers a few times, but I try to work on skills that everyone else doesn't have, find a niche and market myself - and sometimes it takes a while to find the right job, but I always land on my feet. Sorry to tell you this, but you may be in a highly technical field which everyone has tried to get into, and now there's too many IT people expecting to make 60k out of school and so the companies are sending the work to holes like India where they work for $6/hr. Workers in Mexico make $.75/hr and in China they make a lot less than that. This is why a leather jacket costs $100 at K-Mart, but a comparable jacket costs $400 at the leather shop down the street. You have to do a real gut check and say "Do I want to pay $300 more just to support a local business so that the owner can live in a lifestyle that he is accustomed to, or am I just going to swallow my pride, buy the jacket from K-Mart and be $300 ahead. In one form or another, this is the type of decision we are all facing. Now, I happen to despise China, but mostly because they are Communist, practice unfair trade, tamper with currency, infringe on every copywrite in existence, and a bunch of other reasons, but the fact is that it is not going to go away as long as it is a cheap source of labor and their standard of living is substantially lower than our own. And the fact is that stockholders are all demanding profit & growth from the companies that they co-own, and those companies are going to do whatever it takes to cut cost.

Hey, if you can't find a job - THEN GO SERVE YOUR COUNTRY for a couple years. Yeah, the pay sucks, but on the other hand, you get to work long hours

            Its getting ugly….
Lynne Cheney says she thinks Kerry is “not a good man” for using Cheney‘s daughter as an example to make his point last night. Then John Edwards’ wife chimes in and says that she thinks that Lynne Cheney is ashamed of her daughter. Lets see Bush talk about Kerry and Edwards’ daughters sexual preferences and see how the Democrats whine. Kerry’s remarks were apparently designed to somehow stain the Bush-Cheney team, but Kerry is so stupid that he didn’t realize that he just lost some votes last night for his remarks. At least that’s what they are saying.

Did you see the stuff about the liberal school, that made the school children watch the R-rated Fahrenheit 9/11, without the parents permission. They can get away with that crap, but you can’t have a picture of Bush and his wife, dog, White House, and the Declaration of Independence in the school. What the H*!! is going on! Has insanity invaded our schools or what?

And BTW Jay, I don’t appreciate you comparing me to a Democrat in an earlier post. I am nowhere close to being a Freakin' Democrat! We are on the same team dude, so lets not Dis each other

You're right Kevin, I am not willing to pay for items I can get cheaper at Wal-mart. However, in the things I was referring to, I'm talking about companies already making hundreds of millions in profits who purposely ship their jobs overseas to turn the profits into billions. I've seen some horrible things first-hand. In fact, I don't want to get into it, but I personally won't buy a certain company's networking products anymore.

The fact of the matter is, I shouldn't be complaining about myself. I don't have a wife, nor a family to raise. I'm not struggling to eat a daily slice of bread. I'm talking about the other guys I've worked with as a contractor. They're over 40-50 years old, have kids, and don't know what to do since their income used to be $70-100k/year and now it's maybe $15k. They can't retire, nor can they explore new fields because of their age and commitment to their family. The executives are getting rich from this, and I think it's unfair...however, should the government try to help those out? Many say no and some say yes. The guys with the good/decent/steady jobs are most likely to say no. "It's their fault for getting into the wrong field...they should try to get more education...they should move to another place...go serve the military...stop ing and suck it up...tough luck"...etc. I completely understand this position...heck I might be standing there if I had a decent job. Then the guys directly affected by this will say yes. However, since the percentage of people who have good jobs are much higher than those who don't, it's a predictable outcome.

And you're all right...if company X doesn't make its goal of $750 million (only say $400 million) in profits, then how about jacking up the prices of their products...or shipping more jobs overseas. I get it. And it is the fault fat executives who care about one thing: the green.

What is happenning is all the dope smoking and acid dropping hippies and dropouts of the 60's with their free love, draft-dodging, and irresponsible anything-goes mentality have all grown up, raised kids with no rules, got jobs, and wormed their way into positions of authority, and now those Godless pussies want to have it their way. They're too cowardly to help protect our country from terrorists, but they're plenty brave enough when it comes to killing little unborn babies. Maybe from now on I will just refer to the liberals as baby killers. If they want to get respect back as a civil part of society, then they can just stop being a bunch of whining, ing, lying, manipulating, cowardly pantywastes!

Bush gave an interesting answer to the question of him not vetoing a single spending bill. Bush said "I haven't vetoed any spending bills, because we work together." http://www.debates.org/pages/trans2004c.html . I had never thought of that. Since when has the president worked that close with the house and senate. What a concept!

France and the UN are getting nervous about the "oil for weapons" program. It's pretty obvious that these countries were violating the UN sanctions that were setup against Saddam. Especially when you see a mortar shell on TV labeled "MADE IN FRANCE" with a 2001 date stamped on it. These countries were actively undermining what they themselves setup. This qualifies for the "most ridiculous item of the decade" award. If Gore was the president right now, this subject would be on the cover of every newspaper in the country. The fact that is not just goes to show the bias in the media today.
