  • NFB...Im so disgusted... Anyone else?

You would think with all of the brilliant people we have here in the US, that we could get two decent people to run for president!

On one side we have Bush. Although I feel safer at night knowing that Sadam Hussien is behind bars, I feel that he could have handled the situation differently. Also, I still have yet to see Osma Bin Laden caught. I would have rathered seen him caught than Sadam. Everyday we are creating more & more terrorists in the Middle East. I know that we cant leave Iraq, but we need to do something different.

Then we have Kerry. Probably even worse than Bush. His entire campain has just been a Bush-Bash-Fest. His military carrer is shady at best & he cant seem to make up his mind about any important issues. Who knows where his opnion will be on the day he needs to approve an important new ammendment to the consitution. WORST of all... He just seems to be dishonest. He just says whatever he thinks the american voters want to hear. With all of these promises, I dont see anyway he will be able to do them all. (You cant cut taxes & increase spending at the same time)

I dont even think I am going to vote today. Neither canadate DESERVES my vote & I will NOT just choose one canadate just to vote against the other.

    OK.. I am done venting.

Even though I am 100% for Bush, I agree with your decision, not to vote. I believe that if you don't agree with either candidate, or you are just not sure, then just don't vote. There is no sense in in line for a long time to vote for someone that you are not sure that you want to vote for.
I think that's the right decision Mark-

Not voting is a bad idea... What they need is a "non of the above" category. Then if that category wins, they choose two new idiots to vote for in 3 months

Just remember, if you don't vote, you don't have any room to gripe about who's president and making the decisions. However minute it may seem, your vote counts. Get out there and vote, even if it is for Nader or someone no one knows about. Shoot, write in a name even, but exercise your rights at least.

Yes I'm disgusted. I'm disgusted at the candidates who are out and out lying to try and get ignorant (ignorant of the issues) peoples votes. The big number one lie is "Bush lied".

We have a candidate in Georgia who is running for Zel Millers senate seat that has come out and said that the other candidate wants to change the tax law to raise your taxes on everything you buy by 23%. She never said a word about if it passes the government will stop taking taxes out of your paycheck or how the fair tax will reduce the cost of goods by about 20% while bringing in corporations from around the world to a country that will charge them 0 taxes. Can you imagine what kind of boom to the economy that would be? She is either really ignorant of the fair tax plan (which I doubt) or she is purposely misleading voters to get their votes and the bad thing is it will work to some degree. The good thing is I really don't think she has a snow balls chance in H E double toothpicks chance in winning.

Mark I am with you on this one.. I do not like neither.. but I am going to vote anyways...even if I am going to write-in a candidate (Sen. John McCain)

Besides there are other things to get voted on for instance .. THey want to give 500M to the Univ of RI for expansion... some of them rediculous I am going to vote against these as I know where I stand on these issues ... I consider my vote important to my local community and they bills and laws I vote on... just besides the Pres of the US

another reason/example to go and vote is I am voting out some morons on city council that focused unnecessary road and sidewalk improvements on the roads to and from her house... now that is a waste I cannot ignore

Yeah, the two proposals on the ballot in Michigan were:

                  Proposal 1:

Would require voter's approval of lottery expansion and casino gaming expansion to new areas. It would not effect Indian Casinos or the Detoit casinos.

I voted yes. I want to be able to vote on a proposal that could potentially put a Casino in my neighborhood. Obviously.

                  Proposal 2:

Would make a state Constitutional ammendment to define marriage as the only acceptable legal union between only a man and woman. This not only outlaws gay marriages, but civil unions both heterosexual and homosexual alike.

I voted yes. In the past I had said that I wasn't comfortable voting with my religious beliefes. But when I got to the polls, I had to vote with my morals. I don't want to see family values erode any further.

No offense, but voting is not a requirement of being an American citizen. You can complain all you want about who the president is, whether or not you vote. If you are an American citizen, you have the right to choose whomever you want to vote for, or to not vote at all. What sense does it make to vote for Bush, and then Bush wins, and then sit there kicking yourself for voting for him? Or visa versa with Kerry.

People that vote, should be sure of their vote, so that they can make an informed and wise decision whenever they do. That is the problem with people that feel that it is their “duty” to vote, yet they don’t like or approve of either candidate. Or maybe they just are not informed well enough on the issues, and can’t really make an educated decision. My daughter gets to vote for the first time this year, and about 6 months ago, she was considering Kerry, because of the high gas prices. Duh. I began to talk to her about the issues, and I backed up what I was saying by pointing out what was being reported on the news. She began to become really interested in all of the political issues involved in this year’s election. Needless less to say, she is 100% for Bush now. Once she started seeing what I was talking about, she agreed with me. Believe me, my daughter will vote for who she wants to vote for. She is very independent and likes to make her own decisions.

The point is, don’t vote just because someone has put a guilt trip on you to do so. Vote because you are informed about the issues.

And for heavens sake, don't vote if you are not informed.

That would seam to eliminate about 40% of the electorate who get their political info from the 15 second sound bites and take it as fact!!!!!

Yep. Interesting, that's about the percentage of votes Kerry will get. Coincidence?

40%??? I think you are giving the U.S. electorate way too much credit! I would say about 90% or more have no clue about the construction of our government and the reasons it was constructed that way in the first place. Without that knowledge, a person has no business voting or making policy decisions in this country. It is the reason why we are in the mess we are in. A few years ago, I read the results of a very elementary American History quiz given to college students. It was astonishing how many failed it.
