We indirectly supported the war in Iraq by replacing US troops from Afghanistan that were needed in Iraq.
The govt. that got along well with the US were the Conservatives,we have UNFORTUNATELY had Liberal govts for the past 4 elections.
Even will all the scandals that rocked the Liberal party, they still won the last elecytion this summer but are in a minotity position.
If the opposition parties do their job, there should be elections in a year or 2 after no confidence votes bring down the actual govt.

I had no idea that there were Canadian troops in Afghanistan. I have never heard anything about that. I do know that we have 18,000 US troops, in addition to the Afghan troops, all looking for the one man, Bin Laden. This one man that all of those troops are looking for, and John Kerry accused the president of taking his eye off the ball in Afghanistan. Its statements like that, that added up to his defeat. It just doesn't wash. Bin Laden is in Iran anyway, so what have we done? We have surrounded Iran with US troops, with Afghanistan on one side and Iraq on the other. We've turned two countries into Democracies, on either side of Iran in about 3 years time. Iran is feeling the heat, believe me. Just this week, they have started buckling under the pressure, on this nuclear issue. We have also created 4 new allies in the war on terror, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, and Libya. So, who needs Canada, France, Germany, Russia, etc., etc.
We just went out and found new allies, and created the Beginnings of a better world for our children.

No, I don't believe those countries to be our allies at all. I believe we have liberated some people, and set the wheels in motion for a better country and lifestyle for those people, yes... but it is a double-edged sword. I also believe that we have multiplied the hate that our enemies in those countries and in the radical Muslim world have for us. Someone who's father was killed by an arrant US missile will never forgive us. I think, although we have advanced democracy over there, we have also successfully bred even more hate for our country by these radicals.

We didn't start the war, and yes they are our allies in the war on terror, which is the subject at hand - You talk like we are the terrorist- of that stuff that you describe would have ever taken place if 9/11 had not happened, and 9/11 would not have happened if the terrorist had not gotten the funding that they had then and have now-

                Speaking of funding:

Click here to connect to the below links LUGANO, Switzerland — Did Saddam Hussein use any of his ill-gotten billions filched from the United Nations Oil-for-Food program to help fund Al Qaeda?

Investigations have shown that the former Iraqi dictator grafted and smuggled more than $10 billion from the program that for seven years prior to Saddam's overthrow was meant to bring humanitarian aid to ordinary Iraqis. And the Sept. 11 Commission has shown a tracery of contacts between Saddam and Al Qaeda (search) that continued after billions of Oil-for-Food dollars began pouring into Saddam's coffers and Usama bin Laden (search) declared his infamous war on the U.S.

Now, buried in some of the United Nation's own confidential documents, clues can be seen that underscore the possibility of just such a Saddam-Al Qaeda link — clues leading to a locked door in this Swiss lakeside resort. Here is an article from fox news that I thought was funny.

Manhattan Democrats were in a state of shock the morning after the election. They were convinced that most Americans hated Bush as much as they did. Well now that reality has set in, The New York Observer, a weekly newspaper devoted primarily to Bush-bashing during the campaign, has come out with some reality checks for Democrats who don’t plan on hiding in a closet for the next four years.
Reality Check No. 2: "Kofi Annan is not an oracle ... Mr. Annan is against taking any action against Falluja, without offering any viable alternative—probably because there isn’t one.”
Reality check No. 3: "Michael Moore is not a working-class hero ... He doesn’t seem to entertain the possibility that an honest-to-God, respectable, working-class American might also be a true-blue conservative ... the Democrats are on God knows what cycle of fighting a class war that is of no interest to the class on whose behalf it is supposedly being fought.”
Reality Check No. 4: "Women are not ovaries with feet ... It is time to shed the notion that politicians who are 100 percent for abortion rights are good for women, regardless of what else they favor. ”
Reality Check No. 5: "To be an American is not an embarrassment ... The United States just had a hugely contentious, hyper-democratic election in which many people voted, nobody got killed, and the day happened to be carried by the other side. And what is the chic line for Democrats to take as a result? ‘I’m moving to France.’”

Afghanistan is where the National Guard F16 accidentally dropped bombs on Canadian soldiers.

                    Iraq is an allie,for now!

They are "supposed" to have elections there in January for a democratically elected goverment.
What happens once that govt is in place and it is majoritarily Suny or Shiite and has muslim extremist[not terrorists] in positions of power?
You can allow them to have election, you cannot decide who will govern them though.
If a free election is held and an ISLAMIC state is created[as in Iran] and wants the coallition OUT,you must leave to respect the sovereignty you fought for them to have.
What if they choose to remain neutral or worse lean toward OPEC uping oil prices by blackmailing the other weaker members.
Iran is going to stop enriching Uranium,YOUPPI,,maybe they have enriched all they had or will need.
RISK was a great game,Robert Ludlum and Tom Clancy are great reads because they make you look at situations from ALL angles and take into account ALL possibilities.
The world political board is not 2 dimentional,it is 4 or 5 dimentional!!!!

I can definitely see the "double edged sword" aspect of what we have done in Iraq. This is a country that is smack in the middle of a region that hasn't really known peace in a very long time. Without sounding predjudice, I don't think that they will see peace for a very long time as long as Islamic and Muslim leaders are the norm there. While the fundamentals of those religions preach peace and love, one thing that they do not preach is acceptance. There will never be peace in an area where the majority (muslim, islamic) sees the minority (christian, atheistic, catholic, Jewish, etc) as pure evil. And that region will always hate the U.S. because for the most part, that is what they are taught from birth. I don't know, maybe I am wrong and will be proven so. I firmly believe that we have done good things over there and that we have made it a better place for the people, and I don't doubt that there are those there that are very grateful and like the U.S., but the fact remains that these people have only ever known Americans as rich, warmongering, lustful, evil people who hate them just as much as they hate us. I just hope that we will be able to get out of there soon and leave them with the freedom that we and they have faught for, and that we WILL have two new, strong allies as a result. I am just not holding my breath.
