So there I was... (I love that line) anyways, driving 95 north, got off to get some gas, got back on the ramp, I was on it a little bit, getting up to the flow of traffic and all. A few miles down the road, gauges light up, power steering goes, and car stumbles, carefully and I don't really know how, I get it over to the shoulder, swear a whole bunch, and turn the flashers on. Turned off the car, the temp gauge is through almost pegged. Get out, pop the hood, antifreeze is everywhere, and i mean everywhere. My serpentine belt is off, still in one piece some how. So after reaching absolutely no one on my cell phone, because it's a dead area, some guy in the Navy, Mike B (he used to be on this board a few years ago apparently, and knows ken), stopped to help. So i got some antifreeze, some tools, because all of mine were stolen a few months ago. We fixed it, it ran good.
It got me to NY and back.
So I noticed the cables from the battery going in front of the fan shroud were missing insulation where the belt hit. The positive and the ground. Does anyone know what the part #'s for the cables are?
What would cause my belt to come off for no reason?
Now it at idle it gets to 210 degrees fairly quick. Takes a while to cool down when driving around town.
Anything I should check for or be cautious about now? I did put a brand new belt on, since the old one had a 1/4 piece missing from it in one spot.
