      That's pretty interesting.

Here we are, the smartest species on this planet, and we get blindsided, yet the wildlife survives.

The animals....its creepy how "they just know" sometimes

Maybe we're really the dumbest species on the planet, and part of our ignorance is in believing we really are the smartest

Probably just the keen hearing and smelling abilities of the animals. I wouldn't be surprised if they could hear the change in the sound of the surf and said "RUN" !

I've said this statement many times and it will always hold up.....we are the smartest idiots on the planet.

If the death toll turns out to be about 100,000 we lost about .002% of the earths population by this tsunami. While that may sound like an utterly small number, when you consider that the earth has about 6 Billion people it's mind boggling to think we lost .002% to a single natural disaster.

The Tsunami caused by the eruption of Kracatoa in the 1880's was said to circle the earth 3 times. Thousands of people were killed in Africa (which is just about the other side of the world from Kracatoa) by waves of up to 100 feet.

I think God was very displeased with those countries. Lots of sexually transmitted diseases over there...especially HIV. Sad nevertheless.
