Hmmm that would've been an even easier problem to fix with a shotgun, or a pelet gun considering you live close to your neighbors.

        Good Move Joe...

Personaly, I feel that it is a priviledge for people to have the freedom to own a pet. But what some people need to realize is that with that pet, come responsibilities. Invest in a car cover? Why should he WASTE his own good money to protect his investment from another persons responsibility? Just because the owners of the cat are irresponsible doesnt mean that we should all place ourselves in a position where we should be the ones to suffer the consequences. I mean, one offense, I could accept that. But multiple offenses? Thats just absurd! Joe took the time to notify his neighbors about the problem, that was awfully courteous of him, and the fact that nobody responded to the warning put him well within his right to take action. If somebody cares enough about not wanting to see their kids get heartbroken about their pet, then they should take a great deal of concern about their pets and their whereabouts. I know that you cant always control where a pet goes or what it does, but if you fail to comply to a complaint, then that is negligence, and for the most part, you deserved to lose the pet. Any cat lover would be more than lucky to have a neighbor such as joe. He did the absolute best thing.

I like the paintball idea best - pain and insult without real injury. Only problem might be if you splat your own car, and the fact that you have to be on stakeout til the perp shows up...

I read somewhere how to build a type of force-field (sound wall)with high frequency drivers - it was supposed to repel your enemies and make them have a severe attack of nausea and curl up into a little ball until the power was removed. That might work

The latest catch of the day.......
Racoon #3 on Friday night by 10:30 pm and Racoon #4 by 7:00am Saturday morning. Obviously these two were running as a pair. Both taken for a ride down to the racoon relocation point by the river. I think the neighbor's cat is getting the idea that whatever ventures onto my property goes for a ride. The cat has been observing all this while perched upon his owner's new car, which is just fine by me! If that solves the problem, so be it. At least the little critter is christening his owner's car and not mine. He has been watching rather intently.

If it were me, I would stake out the biggest and meanest racoons on the end of a chain as a 'watch coon'. Don't feed it for a coupla days and any cat that comes snooping around will be history, or scared so bad it would never come back.

                Here's a cheaper solution

i had that problem a while ago. I bought the most powerful squirt gun i could find and cats absolutly hate water. I hid in the bushes after i got home and waited. The second that little bastard jumped on my hood he got face full of ice cold water. Haven't had any problems since. Good luck.

You have a ford that's made it that far!!??

i have never seen a ford that wouldnt make it that far as long as you have tons of money to spend keeping it going

in those 300k miles i have done very little to it . put a new clutch in it at about 140K probably half a dozen alternators but they are all my fault . my stero draws way to much juice for the size of alternator damn near any car or truck comes with . i can blow a 80 amp fuze in probably three seconds if i turn it up thats why i have a 100 amp circut breaker

It probably hasnt had the oil changed in three years . thats nothing to worry about though cause it leaks it out fast enough its always got fresh oil in it

With all those animals you caught, you could start a burrito stand of your own. Sell them to the neighborhood kids & finance your car habit or a couple extra pesos in your pocket. Even drink imported beer whilst on stakeout.

                          Kevin,
The ironic thing is that in this area, orange groves are king. This is a big area for the orange industry. That also means that during certain seasons there is a huge influx of Mexican workers. About 3 miles up the road is one of those roadside Taco/burrito stands. It really makes me wonder when you see the occational goat, dog or pig tied up along side. thanks to you, I'll never eat at the local Taco Bell again.

Heck, Taco Bell is a safe bet. It's probably not even real meat... It's the guy selling the homemade stuff out of his trunk that you got to worry about.

HELL--this might sound rude--but we're higher up in the food chain--and the cats better know not to mess with our cars. Kill a few, the rest will learn. I've got a '95 convertable z28, and trust me, its not fun pulling out cat hair from the top every day--takes 20 minutes each day! bottom line--from an animal instinct point of view-- "Cat don't harass me, i don't harass cat"

It's amazing to me that people are outraged that a cat is trapped and turned over to the Humane Society, but think it's perfectly acceptable for pets to be roaming free and wild. Here's my point...your pets are YOUR pets. Your pets shouldn't be eliminating waste on my lawn, porch, patio, car, etc. Why does anyone's cat have a protected "right" to wander loose at night on the prowl? My dogs don't wander the neighborhood crapping wherever they feel like it. If I let my dogs out to roam the neighborhood everytime they had to go "potty", they would have been hauled away by the dog catcher a long time ago. My pets are a burden on no one but me.
This isn't a case of a runaway pet that escaped or was let out by mistake, this is a case of an "outdoor cat" which somehow is acceptable to some people. So because you decided to have a pet, I have to live with it walking on my car and crapping on my property? What kind of a neighbor allows his pets to do that to other neighbors anyway?
I am relieved that I am not the only one who thinks your pet should be YOUR responsibility and no one elses.

ps. you could also sell your catch O' the day to a local Korean or Vietnamese restaurant... talk about woking your pet.
