I've had my fair share of turbo cars run against me, last time it was a 3000GT, all I could hear was the blow off valve behind me. I do LOVE the sound of the blow off valve though. All the more reason for me to get a turbo for the Z.
talking about fast ws6 i was surprised, yesterday on freeway i was crushing on first line about 65 mph , and then i hear very nice exhaust sound behind me so i looked at my side mirror and i saw a red car. he was driving on 4th lane, sound getting louder and louder and hes getting closer and changed lane from 4th to second and i looked over he was next to me It was a mustang ( its not 2003 or 04 mustang) and its not GTs mach or cobra 04 either. well he started rev at me so downshift the gear to 4th and its on it was side by side the whole time but i have to slow down cos i see car infront of me and he passed me. i saw the back of that mustang it says COBRA with tall wing( after i look on my 40th anniversary mustang ) i believe that is 2000 or 2001 cobra R with 387 hp. it suprised me that my ws6 is stock which is 325 hp and i bet my car heavier than his. one thing poped in my mind " what makes F-body so freacking awesome? i meant he has more horse and much lighter and i bet he has lot more mod cos that exhaust is nice but than my ws6 stcok can be side by side the whole time. or it just because our car is GM ? i don't know.btw i know what i did is wrong racing on freeway

...if you wanna go the turbo route . I have yet to be smacked by an import where it was a FAIR race (e.g. not a ricer fly-by). I actually had a guy in a new Celica lose his jaw when he saw me fly by him. As far as handling, yeah, they're heavy but corner with the best of them. Build up the suspension and get a set of SFCs with the integral crossmember and its gonna be tough to beat on a budget. It never ceases to amaze me on how ricers think or what excuses they come up with. Oh well, I'll just stick with my Detroit iron

Real Cobra Rs do not say "Cobra" on the rear bumper -- they just say "Mustang" because they have the V6 rear fascia with no grooves for the exhaust pipes (because the exhuast exits on the side).
Sounds to me like someone put a Cobra R wing on a 2001 Mustang Cobra.
You would have pulled ahead of him if you would have downshifted to 3rd instead of 4th... it's pretty pathetic for the Stang that you stayed with him in 4th at 65 mph.

Wow....i like the fact that he wants to dump off his s200 and get a ws6 and has a new found respect for f-bodies, but the majority of the other posts are...i just dont have words to describe the ignorance.
Also, i hate it when ricers say that us V8 domestic guys are always hating on them and blah blah blah.... The way i look at it, is i myself am a GEARHEAD. In my mind, there can never be too much hp/tq, never too much $$$ spent in to my car, never too many car shows on tv, etc...., and i know alot of people who drive V8 domestics as well that are also "gearheads". It's the fact that most of us love and appreciate cars, and because of this (if you are in to speed and low et's ) you get yourself a legitimately fast car....and make it faster What has happened is that a whole bunch of people who are part of a fad that know nothing about cars are buying econoboxes and just throwing it in our faces about how their car is so much faster/better than ours and try to antagonize us on the streets. This in itself angers me. I'm in no way saying that if you drive an import that you don't know how to turn a wrench, I'm just saying that when you claim your civic si with a cai is running high 13's, then you know NOTHING about cars.
I've been playing guitar for 6 1/2 years now. It would anger me if someone came along who didn't know how to play, just hit random strings that sounded horrible, and that became the new thing and he himself would try and show me how guitar is supposed to be played.

i feel the same way, it really seems like ricers try to hard to fit in. Im not talking about imports in general, i'm refering to the ones with the stickers for parts that they dont have, the stupid wings on the back of their cars, wear their visors backwards and upside down and they think that it is cool to do front wheel burnouts in front of v8 cars. I have quite a few friends with import cars, but they dont try to fit the stereotype of the ricer.

thanks jay you know Trans am better than i do, but my point was i didn't know that ws6 can keep up or probably smoke cobra, i thought cobra would left me behind. so what else should i know or car can i beat with my stock ws6 so i don't have to try or even race them ?

Cobra R and regular Cobra are different... Cobra R would smoke you. So would 03/04 Cobras.
You can basically outrun or keep pace with anything pre-2002 except Corvette Z06s and Vipers, and Porsche 911 Turbos... and of course the exotics.
Ater 02 though... it's a whole nother ballgame. We're going to be playing catch up with a lot of these new cars coming out....
