I got to shoot a few mags through my friends Kimber Compact, sweet gun! Reminds me of my Brother-in-laws and Sister's IPSC guns.

Even in America you can't shoot someone in the back. The police legally can't either.

There was another case in Atlanta about a year ago where a Man was walking with his daughter in a park and was approached by someone with a gun. I don't remember all the details but the man had his permit and the robber ended up DRT (Dead Right There). Thankfully no charges were filed.

A suburb city to Atlanta named Kennesaw passed a law stating that all home owners are required to have a weapon. The crime rate dropped 52% in the first year. The last thing a robber wants is for his victim to be armed.

Every single city in the US that has made it harder for people to carry weapons has had an increase in the crime rate. When the state of Georgia passed a law making this a right to carry state (something like that), the crime rate has dropped state wide.

Wish I could afford some of those toys.... My father was in the military, so at 7yrs old I got to squeeze off a few blank rounds from a M60 on a tripod. The old man taught me how to defend myself pretty well, with and without a gun. No place to shoot around here locally. If I lived in Maine, I would probably be out back shooting on a regular basis (with my carrying permit). Everyone deserves the right to bear arms who is of sane mind, and is capable of operating the weapon safely. It's been about 3 months since I last went shooting. Have fun

I've always loved james bond, the first handgun I bought was a 1911.. but awhile ago I finally bought a walther p99

I know it's not the original connery ppk but hey, brosnan carries it and it shoot's real well. With all the terrible stuff I see on the news I'm surprised so many people are for gun controll, laws like that only hurt the people that actually follow laws anyway.

I have been thinking about getting a 380 for a couple of year now. I want something smaller than my Beretta that I can conceal better. I have always loved the Walther PPKS so I went and looked at it. It has 2 major problems. First, the trigger pull is flat out awful in double action. They have a design problem there. It's like a 20 pound pull. Second, the beaver tail in the back that goes over the meaty part of your hand between your thumb and forefinger is too short and too high. It allows the slide to bite your hand when it slides. There is a mod to weld on more material then sand it off but it will cost a couple of hundred dollars to do to fix it. I asked and the trigger is not "fixable".

So I went looking and the one that I like is the Sig Sauer 380 model P232.

He would have ended up in jail in the US too. You can only use the amount of force neccessary to stop the threat. Deadly force can only be used to prevent your own or someone else's death or grave bodily harm (and in some cases rape, and your property, depending on the state). If the individual was running away, they posed no threat and you can not legally shoot them. As was pointed out, even the police could not shoot them, unless the police believed they presented an immediate danger to the public.

in my state we have a law that allows us as home owners to use deadly force if some one enters our home with out permission. now there is a lot of gray area there, but its not as gray as you might think it is. but if you kick in my front door and i wake up to you in the kitchen, and you turn and come towards me. well lets just say it the law would not be on the criminals side.

shoot, here in NJ, that's not even enough....you must be in iminent danger of harm to use deadly force in the home. If the bad guy is between you and the only exit and is facing you, then you can do it, but the likelihood of that are slim....

                          Gun Culture? What gun culture?

Don't you English guys know that the whole American gun culture thing is a myth? All that stopped when we quit riding horses! But heck, we still need something to defend ourself in case we run across a rabid chipmunk or something. Here's a tiny representative sample of my Rabid Chipmunk Defense System.

I agree about the PPKS having too hard a trigger. The good thing is that it's highly unlikely you'll accidentally discharge it. The bad part is your accuracy stinks. It's annoying for me but my wife and son have a very hard time pulling it at all. My favorite pistol is the Kimber simply because it's so accurate (trigger is great on it). It's good to see we got some fellow enthusiasts here! The foreign guys just don't know what they're missing....

This is my favorite gun. I've had one for about 20 years now. It was my first centerfire gun I ever bought. With open sites on the 25 yard range I have shot all 6 within the size of a dime. The heavy barrel helps control the recoil. picture courtesy of http://www.desertshooting.com/

Around here, if a guy shot an intruder, he can either take his chances with the law, or just throw the body in a corn field. Also, my buddy raises hogs on his farm, and they'll eat just about anything. So if you don't know the guy and he's not supposed to be there, it's darn hard to trace what happenned to him when he gets plowed up by some farmer. Of course, there's always the odd chance that you will get your butt in a sling while you're chauffering the perps corpse around, but most of these small towns only got one cop on duty any given night, and some towns share a department. Yeah, I say let mother nature have them. Course, I would never try this in Las Vegas or Miami - they got CSI
