  • Engine block question?

I removed all the freeze plugs and oil plugs from this LT1 block to get it ready to be tanked. Should I also remove the press-in cap at the back of the block in the cam bore? It's the one that sits directly behind the end of the cam. It's the only thing left in the block that looks removable.

It will need to come out to install new cam bearings, right?

If you don't already have it, get the "How To Rebuild LT1/LT4 Engines" book. It has two pages of photos showing the removal of the freeze plugs, misc. screw in plugs, cam bearings and rear block plug.
