Couldn't agree more. It's vile. To me, the exterior just looks like a modified Cadillac XLR. I don't like it one bit.

If they want it to look retro, they should make it a replica of a first gen. If not identical, then close.

I think TraceZ means the youth market that normally goes to the imports. Those type of kids would probably think that interior is cool. Those of us who are already familiar with the fbody and have an idea in our head what it should look like probably think it stinks.

I think the Marketing dept. at GM is much smarter than to target "kids" as their primary audience and I likely susppect that this is not why the interior was desgned the way it looks in the pics. Most "kids" do not have sufficient credit or saved money to purchase a new Camaro. The Camaro has always been primarily adult owned; specifically adult Camaro enthusiasts.

Either way, just the mere fact that this "concept" is getting such mixed reviews is not good at all for the car. If GM's concept history is an accurate predicitor of the fate of this 5th Gen, then this concept we are seeing will likely go through some significant changes before rolling off the assembly line.

I think GM puts out things like this solely to solicit opinions. Putting something like this concept out really gets people talking and GM can hear what people want in the car. We've been giving them a boat load of info on this board all week. I think you'll end up seeing something more faithful to the first gen, with an interior that is more retro, like the Mustang.

I agree that we'll see changes "if" it goes into production, and that this will give them a better idea of what people really want in a new camaro.

Another thing to bear in mind is that typically concept car interiors are very radical. A few small ideas and details may make production, but in most cases concept car interior are just experiments in design.

I agree, and the cool thing is that concept official unveilings are a "free" chance for auto manufacturer's marketing, design, and sales teams to "fish" for feedback in regards to any future possibilities of design; especially with today's ever growing online population within the message boards.

wow i'd never seen the 4th gen concept before to look at that then think of a 93 camaro i'd be suprised if the 5th gen look anything like the concept... but i still like the concept

As you can see looking back at the 4th gen concept, the overall shape and body lines were transferred to production with little change but the appearance was changed a lot to appeal to the masses and tone down the car a bit. GM never intended that 4th gen concept to go to market the way it was, it was simply a "concept"... a platform off of which the actual car will be based. The same will be true for the 5th gen. The overall shape and body lines will still be there, but a lot will change in order for the car to make it to production.

I'm not so sure it'll be as different as the 4th gen was from it's concept car. GM has shown it can translate a concept design more accurately to an actual vehicle. As examples I'd site the Solstice and SSR. Looking at the corvette makes me think they could move it to production for the most part. I'm not saying there won't be changes. I can see now that the trunk line may get a lower lift over opening and the mirrors are obviously going to go. The F-body folks that went to the show for the pre-view are saying that the concept is a sigma underneath. Close to Velite, but not the same thing. That said, the solstice was on a modified J-body chassis of Cavalier fame.

Alright, I'll here it for this, but I personally like the interior sans 2 things...the yellow and the shifter. However, I love the major 69 cues they put into the look...but then again, I love the 69 to begin with. I am quite eager to see how it will look once it hits production. And I do love their choice of the LS2 for the powerplant. From what I felt in the 05 C6 I drove last year, it will definitely be a good motor for the car. So...where do I sign up again?
