No where in that article does it say it just barely broke the skin it says it broke the skin, but in the article it says it hit him hard enough to knock him silly. If you would kindly go back and read the article one more time and pay a little more attention you may pick this up
Katharine Armstrong, the ranch's owner, said Sunday that Cheney was using a 28-guage shotgun and that Whittington was about 30 yards away when he was hit in the cheek, neck and chest.
. 30 yards is quite close enough to knock someone silly the guy is lucky he wasn't killed from a shotgun blast to the head that close.

If you are not closing one eye when you shoot a rifle or shotgun, then you are an oddball and likely a rookie. The reason you close one eye is to eliminate your depth perception so that you can focus on the lead distance and or drop distance.

Also go pick up just about any shooting magazine and do some reading shooting with both eyes open is the most accurate way to do it. Rookies shoot with one eye shut. For anyone whos shot enough with both eyes open to be accurate you realize very quickly the advantages you get from it whether its a rifle, shotgun, or bow. I find it funny how I have a differing opinion from you and instead of arguing something like an adult you question how old I am and say that I'm not too sharp. I took the time to actually read the article and if you read close enough IT WAS A 30 YARD SHOT TO THE NECK AND HEAD. There's no question on whether it barely broke the skin or not. If you want to keep hunting with people that may occassionally pepper you and you just laugh it off thats your choice but I know I'd never want to be in your group .

As I stated before it is the shooters responsibility and no one elses.

It's a waste of time and energy to argue with people so naive. Anyways NHRA drag racing is on, so why am I even talking to you?

      Peace my brother.

Nothing I said has been naive. I've been shooting\hunting since a very young age and guarantee I have more than enough experience to know what I'm talking about. I originally posted to this thread to show my digust with how a serious accident was played down plus how it gave hunters a bad name by acting like an accident like this was no big deal and you jumped down my throat from the begginning. I have prooven you wrong many times through this thread why not be a man quit the name calling and admit your wrong. You called me an oddball, rookie, and not to sharp so in all your infinite wisdom could you please explain how getting hit in the cheek, neck, and head at 30 yards isn't a big deal and how I'm being naive over all of this?

It was an acidcent plain and simple. No big deal except for people like you who enjoy putting a negative spin on everything and over-dramatizing situations far beyond reality. You haven't proven anybody wrong but your confused self; what are you on drugs? Couple of pellets to the dome, no serious injuries, no big deal. You bleeding hearts will never give up will you.

BTW, you better watch who you are calling out to be a man.

Just quail, huh? At first, I thought they were hunting turkeys and Ted Kennedy had gotten shot.

Well, all's well that ends well, I s'pose.

You would have to tell Ted that he had been shot. He probably wouldn't otherwise know.

                            This is actually pretty funny.

I was just thinking if it was Kerry that had gotten a couple pellets, he woulda put himself in for the CMH or at least a couple Purple Hearts - one for each pellet.

Charles Schumer would have tried to sue the manufacturers of the shotgun, the ammunition, the owner of the land, and the last person to breath the air that the pellets flew through before hitting him.

John McCain would probably have started bobbing & weaving and calling for a dustoff.

Tom Daschle would have checked his hair to see that it was not messed up.

Diane Feinstein would have checked the pellets to make sure that they were steel and not lead, then proceeded to draft legislation to ban steel.

Robert Byrd would have probably checked his depends.

Al Gore would have left the blood on his face for a week's worth of press conferences and talk shows.

Dan Quayle woulda probably thought it was done as some kind of practical joke.

And Howard Dean would have gone "Aaauuuuggghhhh"

Great question... another observation I made is that the original poster said Fox News reported this. Therefore I declare this whole thing nothing but right-winged conservative BS. None of it is true.
