Not funny at all. Ken was trying to make a valid point.

You have openly admitted before that you are Hispanic. How do you feel about the illegal immigration problem and this upcoming "demonstration?"

We are in a heap of trouble here folks just like Ken said....and things are going to get ugly in this country. As Americans, we are angry that people who are living in our copuntry illegally are actually demanding that we ignore that fact. And to make matters worse they are going to rub our noses in it by not working and thereby causing problems for businesses.....in fact, the very businesses that have hired them and help to provide their livlihood.

All this is going to fuel a lot of hatred and distrust between Hispanics and the American public. I am afraid some of this will turn to violence as well. At the same time we have to recognize that we allowed all this to happen. Trying to fix it will be very very difficult. In the meantime, we are facing a situation unlike anything else we have ever seen in this country. It's will cause anger and unrest and big, big problems. The Charlotte Observer has been doing an in depth look at the whole illegal immigration issue. It is truly a mess.....here is one of their stories http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlot...n/14409002.htm

I know this wasn't directed at me, but as a Hispanic...a 3rd Generation LEGAL Hispanic, I think this is a load of bull****. My grandmother, great aunt and great grandmother only had a matter of weeks from being Spanish citizens in Mexico to American citizens able to read, write and understand English fluently. If these lazy, sorry-***, no-good, worthless, scumbag, puke pieces of **** can't take the time to get their citizenship, then they can suck their big toe all the way back to cave they were born in. PERIOD!!

Note: all expletives were purposefully replaced with *** for those with sensitive eyes. However, my message remains just as strong to communicate my anger over this.

I know for my wife, the process took about a year to get to where we are now, which is just for her interview with immigration, which will be where she will get her green card. She is Canadian, by the way. The way we did it was called a family-class visa which, just like it sounds, can be aquired if you have a family member in the U.S. who is either a citizen or a legal immigrant. The family member has to file an affidavit of support, basically saying that they will be financially responsible for the applicant and that any money aquired by the applicant through government assistance programs of any kind will be paid back to the government by the sponsor. That is one of the safeguards that, if enforced, can prevent alot of the probs we have with the illegals right now.
If they are just applying to get in for work, that is called a working class visa. These are a little harder and more time consuming to get, as I understand it. The applicant must get a letter of offer of employment from a potential employer, prove that they have skills, education, or experience associated with the job they are applying for that makes them more qualified for the job than U.S. citizens who are applying for the same job. That is another safeguard that keeps the jobs here open for our citizens that could really use them. I think the process for these visas can take anywhere from a year on up to several years.
Of course, the process in general can be sped up with the aid of an immigration lawyer, but understandably few Mexicans can afford a lawyer. I know my wife and I couldn't.

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

I think everyone is in total agreement.

along with that, no offence to you Canadians.......... but I'm sick of all the local communities down here flying the Canadian flag next to the US flag instead of the traditional State flag. Some literally demand Canadian recognition down here, yet they complain bitterly about everything in America. They don't support the local economy, they don't even verbally support the US, yet some spend the majority of their time here only to high tail it back up north to receive their Canadian Medical benefits or fill out the proper form at the right time of year to retain their Canadian citizenship. They have no desire to become Americans, but they live here most of the year.

This is America, Damn it. Either become a legal citizen or get out.

Little by little, the country is becoming less "Americanized". Fewer people learn the language, less emphasis on "American" culture with more tolerance of diversity at the expense of our national identity. One thing about my lifetime....I've watched much of this culture become diluted. I would hate to see how things become in another 50 years.

America used to be a place where people who were fed up with the way other countries were run, were fed up with persecution, as well as a multitude of other reasons.......and came to America for a better life and to support the Country that gave them that better life. When did it become a perminant vacation resort for those that don't support the US?

Call me a doomer, But I think the 230 year experiment is in trouble. Their are not enough folks who really care about whats going on. The folks that do care are such a small population that their voice is faint. Our jobs are being sent overseas. The middle class is being turned into a working poor class. Illegal immigration is running rampant, Our country is broke with our massive debt being financed by outsiders. It is scary to see what kind of country my kid will see in 15 to 20 years. This is still the greatest country in the world. I must say at the rate we are going not for long. I'm glad you folks are awake...

                              Amen again!

Something for those on the other side of the fence to think about...

Does an illegal immigrant sign up for the draft if they are over 18?

Will an illegal immigrant go to war to fight for you and the country?

Has an illegal immigrant died on the battlefied, for you, so you can have the right to vote?

Those crossing our border illegally want our way of life, but not at the price in blood our armed cirvices have paid, in spades, but are not willing to put their life in the line, like USA citizens have done for you.
