Is this really a big deal?

From being around this board for a little while, I know that it is a mature board with some poeple who are experienced when it comes to being married. I am in a situation where I am not married yet but might as well be. We have been living together now for 7 months or so with our (her) three kids. All is great with exception of a few problems that all couples have. This past tuesday my buddy came in from Iraq where he has been for an entire year. I went to El Paso to pick him up and he wanted to go to Hooters, so we went. Last night my girlfriend asked me where we ate, I told her, and all you know what broke loose. She totally flipped out to the point where I was on the way out. She has had jelouse(sp) tendencies in the past, but I never saw this coming. Is hooters with your best firend that you haven't seen in a year that big a deal? She has been married before and this is my first kind of relationship like this. Maybe thats how being "married" is and I am just being ignorant to the entire thing. Was it really that big of a deal? would your significant others flip out?

Well, I've seen both ends. Should someone flip out? No. Does it happen? Yep. Usually when someone flips out over an issue like that, there is a certain amount of insecurity somewhere. The best suggestion I could make is counseling. It's all about communication and trust, somewhere that is breaking down. Whether or not the situation can be fixed or not remains to be seen.

No that isn't normal. I was with a girl like that. I ate at hooters a lot back in High school, and she'd alwasy flip out about it. She was extremely jealous. Eventually you will do two things. 1, you submit to her and do only what is acceptable to her (become a PW bia), or 2, you keep doing your own thing, she continues to rage, and things fall apart. Or maybe she'll stop caring so much, but not likely.

I never put up with that kinda thing, and it killed our relationship. It got to the point where she was mad at me every day.

She would be at my house when I got out of work. "Sorry honey, I had plans to go out to eat with the guys, I didn't know you were coming by."

She would flip out. And we'd be on bad terms for like two days. Eventually I got sick of having to kiss her ass for two days just to get on good terms all because I went bowling with my best friend one night, so we just broke it off.

I like to experiment with girls (say things to get reactions, do things to get reactions, etc.. just to see what kind of reaction I get). I would continue to go out, do it more than usual and see how she reacts. Unless it's only cuz it was hooters. If that's it, hell, you don't need to eat at hooters. it's not even that good, you can give that up for her. But if it's just anything that takes time away from her, you might have a problem.

Everyone is different. My wife doesn't care if I go to Hooters. She's actually been there with me a few times (she likes their chicken sandwiches, and... um... so do I. ).

However, I have a friend who's wife would castrate him on the spot if she found out he went to Hooters. Funny thing is, she allows him to go on two expensive gambling trips to Vegas without her every year. He goes with a group of guys he works with. Hooters, on the other hand, is off limits.

Moral of the story... Women are impossible to figure out.

Yes, 2 weeks ago I drove all the way to Dallas by myself and was gone for 3 days and all was good. I go to Hooters for 1 hour and Go figure

I don't do titty bars and hooters, I have no use for them and she knows it. My best friend that I haven't seen in a year wanted to go so I said sure why not. She says she trusts me, she just doesn't trust me with him now after that happen. The guy has been my best friend for 5 years and I didn't see a problem eating there with him other then the fact that the last time I did I drank a pitcher and a half of beer, ate 30 wings, then left it all on my front lawn when I got home.(which is why I have no use for hooters anymore)

If you have a great relationship outside of this incident, then do as Raro suggested and give Hooters up for her (which seems like you did). Just keep your head on a swivel for signs she could snap for other things. It happens after time.

We don't fight about anything small, like most arguments are. ( Dinner, what to watch on TV, etc.) I guess she is possesive for lack of a better word. She's doesn't want to share me with my job, basketball, my best friend. This is the root of all of our agruments. She will be cool about stuff for a month or so, then something like Hooters happens, then it all comes out!
