So is the insurance company. Come to think of it, so is the guy that caused this. He's still not calling back the insurance company. Something tells me he's going to skip town. When you don't return the phone calls of your own insurance company, even when they send you certified letters..... something is wrong with the picture.

What a lowlife. There aren't words to describe people like this. First, he runs you off the road purposly, then he would have left the scene if someone hadn't stopped him. Now, he just ignores the insurance companies. He probably thinks if he doesn't respond or they can't find him he won't be sued.

Intent is difficult to prove. Somebody that gets pulled over by a police officer and tries to back over the officer as he gets out of the car and then drives off is pretty cut and dry case. I think in my case the guy was trying to bullsheet his way into making people think it was "trailer sway" or something like that. I still don't have a copy of the police report, all I really know is that he was cited.

          • After having an independant appraiser come out at the expense of the insurtance company, what they are willing to give up for a cherry 97 WS6 is roughly $11,750. They want $2200 for the salvage.......What do you guys think of it?

            • I know you could get more parting it out but considering what happened I would let them take it and close the book on it. But I would swap as many parts off of it (BMR) as I could first.

              • It all depends on how you feel about this, Joe. I'd just make sure there are no aftermarket parts of value left on it before they haul it away, if that is what you decide to do. Otherwise, strip it and part it out. Keep what you want.

                • and if you want to sell any of the aftermarket parts off it let us know
, but deffinately take anything of value off before they take it away, and put stock used or even broken parts on , nobody would care i think..

and that $11750 for a perfect ws6 , seems quite low, that another reason to take anything good off it before they take it away, if you decide to go that way...

                    • You can't go by private party. It has to be retail. In other words, what will he have to pay to go out to a dealership and replace his totalled car with a similar car. It retails 10k+ so the price they are willing to pay is probably on par. I would probably keep it for the 2k. Part it or keep it just for your own parts. YOU know how well it was maintained.

Yes I used my zip. I had no idea what Florida is. I still say $11,750 is good.

I am tending to agree. The first amount that the insurance company wanted to give me was $7800. I told them about my involvement with these cars, the website, etc. there was no way that a similar condition car could be bought for that price. We went back and forth and I said fine....... you buy the car and hand me the keys and title. That's when an independant adjuster was called. We talked, I showed him all the files, logs and receipts book. It shows every modification, pictures, everything. He took more photos and went on his way.

I think I am inclined to keep the car for salvage. Heck, it's a driveable car. The only damage to it's running condition is some wiring behind the instrument cluster...... well where an instument cluster would have been. I've got that all cleaned out and will post some photos later, about 12 wires need to be spliced, a cluster plugged into the harness and she should fire right up. The only suspension damage I located was the panhard rod is bent right at the adjuster. A simple replace of that part and she's good to go. It might make a handy track only toy. I still say this is not a hard fix. Might even be made into a convertible with little drama.
