I don't have a problem with the law. I have a problem with her attitude about it. "Who really cares about it being unconstitutional?" said Councilwoman Tonya Payne, a supporter. "This is what's right to do, and if this means that we have to go out and have a court battle, then that's fine ... " You know what, lady you should care. Everybody who makes laws should care. One of the mistakes made by Bush is he signed a bill McCain-Feingold into law knowing full well it is unconstitutional. He even said he knew it was expecting it to be challenged in court and get overthrown. But nobody has done that. In the mean time it is the law. Another example is the Washington DC ban on hand guns. It took 32 years before the law was challenged in court and said to be unconstitutional. That's bull. The process is broken. A bill/law should have to be proven to be constitutionally OK before it goes into effect as a law. That's all I'm saying.2002 Electron Blue Vette, 1SC, FE3/Z51, G92 3.15 gears, 308.9 RWHP 321.7 RWTQ (before any mods), SLP headers, Z06 exhaust, MSD Ignition Wires, AC Delco Iridium Spark Plugs, 160 t-stat, lots of ECM tuning

I can't think of anybody that "should" be more qualified. But even they do not have the best reputation for rulings based on the constitution. Maybe a new court due to the increased work load that is equal to the Supreme Court or under jurisdiction of the Supreme Court but their mandate should be strictly a constitution check. Not a "feelings" check.Originally posted by FroSStyWho would have the responsibility to check the bills? So basically a test like we had during slavery to disqualify those who can't read or write. There are several hard working plant workers near where I work who have opinions and I know they can't read or write. Those with more money will be able to ace this thing no problem because of a good education....and then you end up with a lopsided vote because not everyone is represented.
So much of this vote has been chastised because of the "uneducated black vote" . I searched the internet for a study I saw but I can't find it. It showed that if you take out the black vote Obama still would have won.

Oh yes the poor, the uneducated, and the blacks. Well I never have been black but I certainly have been poor. My dad died when I was in the 8th grade. Nothing in savings. No life insurance. People didn't think about those things in the 70s. My mom struggled to raise me and my sister on her income as a secretary and what little we got from social security as a death benefit from my dad. There was no way I could go to college. I got a job painting metal shelving, worked 8 hours a day and went to school full time. Every person in this country has the same opportunity to educate themselves as anybody else. There are free local libraries all over the country. You can get a job and go to a community college and educate yourself. I have no sympathy for anyone who is too damn lazy to get off their rear and go take some classes at college and learn how to get a better job. I started off as a machinist tapping holes on a hand tapping machine in the machine shop. I spent my lunch time and after work learning on my own time how to program the CNC machines. I moved up to running them then programming them then to shop supervisor. Now I have moved out of the shop into the engineering department. Now I design high tech satellites and all kinds of cool stuff. No one taught it to me. I went out and learned it on my own. If I can do it any one can so I don't care about the poor poor pitiful poor. They are there because of bad decisions they have made in their life. If they are not smart enough to vote they have no business bringing down the rest of the country because of their ignorance. BTW there are just as many ignorant white voters as black voters. I don't even know what race has to do with this conversation. This is about whether voters are qualified to vote. I know people that have a BS degree and are not qualified to vote.Originally posted by JoshuSo basically a test like we had during slavery to disqualify those who can't read or write.
