    "beefy internals" help, but the static compression is still 9.5:1, and that is high for a boosted motor. All that the beefy internals do is make the motor stand up to pre-detonation better, it doesn't reduce the occurrence of it... which is why you would want to lower the compression ratio.

It's all about total airflow, not just pressure. The car will respond nicely to typical performance mods that eliminate restriction and pumping losses. A free flowing exhaust and intake should do wonders.

      yes, most people forget this. You an can make more power on a free'er flowing motor with less boost than a lesser flowing motor on more boost. IVe seen the airbox on those cobalts and it looks pretty restricitve. Thats probably a good place to start.

      But they look like fun!
