He had 10,000mi on it with nothing to big for mods. I think just bolt ons and pulley, but he wasn't around for too long to talk to. He was also pissed because I think that he was expecting around 500rwhp. My teeth rattle when I think about it. I also saw a 100% STOCK Lightning with 1500 mi drop 347rwhp and 450rwtq. I give respect where respect is due.
Keep in mind though, there is such a thing as a "dyno queen"...
...basically a car which has an exponential torque and HP curve, so that their PEAK torque and HP are really high, but their area under the curve is rather lacking... peak figures aren't nearly as important as the shape of the entire curve.

This is another one of those "IF-THEN" statements that just aren't true.
GM doesn't have a "Special Vehicle Team" so this argument is inconsequential.
As far as Mustangs outhandling f-bodies, why does a 2002 WS6 compete VERY closely with an 03 Cobra on lap times? It doesn't have nearly as much power, so it must do a better job in the corners. The Cobra gets its reputation for handling simply because of the IRS... but the F-car is no slouch in handling, and typically pulls higher lateral G numbers on the skippad than the Cobra does.

Well...from a stock to stock point of view, the 03 Cobras are about even with well driven LS1 F-bodies (SS's and WS6's)...they even cost about the same sticker (I was looking at a T-top WS6, it stickered at 33k...SS was a different story, out the door for 26K, but it was gonna take 5 months to get!). once the mods start, though...dollar for dollar, you can't beat that new Ford.
Oh well. I guess it's all in taste. but that's just my opinion..i could be wrong...

dollar for dollar? But the Cobra's already got a supercharger on it. If you put a supercharger on an LS1, what kind of HP numbers are we looking at? MUCH more than the cobras. Since the Ford people love comparing '03 supercharged cobra's to '02 NA LS1 WS6's, then fine, lets compare them. How much does the '03 cobra cost, and how much does a '02 WS6 cost? I bet with the difference in price you could go put a supercharger on that LS1, now you're dead even in the price department and the LS1 is coming out on top again. So dollar-for-dollar the LS1 is winning again.
Thats what I love about the LS1... yeah, some times other cars can pull ahead of it... but thats just cause they took their turn already. Do the same thing on our side of the equation and look what happens
Oh and yes, the lightning's HP numbers are indeed impressive. But again we have to realize thats not naturally aspirated (neither is the cobra). But there's REALLY no point in comparing lightnings to cobra's or LS1's... its a TRUCK! and its the fastest truck out there. i give it props for that.
Oh and can the guy who keeps refering to Ford as F.O.R.D. stop already... its annoying. We all got the joke back in 1987 about what Ford stands for, so just give it a rest already.

I'm not arguing that fact, I agree...but that's teh way it comes stock. I'm not bashing either car, not by a long shot...i love American V8 rwd cars, period and if Ford needed a blower to compete, so be it...

I like the comparison of the cobra to a Z06....I guess the new one is swapping from a 5.7L to a 6.0L with some 480BHP stock....thats just what I heard though.
82 camaro x2:
82 z28 w/ 305 (for now) 4 speed saginaw
82 berrlinetta with 350 .060 over...3 speed auto
The Z28 is back under the knife, after the transmission, now its the entire engine....will post pics when all finished.
If you want to do a bang for the buck comparison, I have seen a number of 98-01 C5's going well below $20k. And considering that many Corvettes lead sheltered lives, they are a good starting point.
Hey Tracy, there is a 95 TA vert for $9900 at carmax in greensboro. I think it was you that issued a challenge to find a convertible for less tha $10k.
96 TA Sold!
87 TA Sold!
80 Z28 Sold!
74 Formula Sold!
73 Z28 Sold!
69 Camaro Not Sold!

I thought the SRT 10 was the fastest truck? I got to test one as well as a viper and these things MOVE!
