If you want loud, get long tube headers, have electric cutouts welded in just prior to the cats and rear 02 simulators. When you want it loud, hit the cutouts and you'll wake up the dead.

I promise that if you have LT headers, no cats, and a flowmaster muffler... if you jam at WOT anywhere near a cop, you WILL be pulled over.

You will probably also face a heavy penalty for removing your cats.

        hmm

ok I probaly sound like an idiot but, would my 98 LS1 sound good with headers, y pipe, no cats and acatback system or would it be better with highflow cats?

Joe... I am going to install a cat at the end of the intermediate pipe, with the cut-outs just in front of it.

You are starting to ask the same questions in 4 different threads.

You will sound good with LT headers regardless of whether or not you use a cat. If you do not use a cat... you will be MUCH louder.

It is not legal to remove them.

By the way... WOT = "wide open throttle" in case you were confused by that.

High-flow cats are indeed legal. At least where I am in Michigan.

I see, well I live in oklahoma and here we have no inspection or emission laws anymore, so going without cats is becoming more popular

No inspection in Michigan either... a lot of people are doing it here too... BUT... it is still illegal to remove your catalytic converters, and I still face a heavy penalty if I am caught without them.

can you give me any suggestions about good highflow cats?

FYI the law is you can't remove a working converter even to replace it with another one whether high flow or not. This is one of the reasons cat back systems are so pupolar.

From what I hear on here is the SLP loudmouths are pretty loud. I think they have a resonator instead of a muffler.
