My 2000 Camaro's rear has recently started to squeak when going over speed bumps, rough roads, etc. Is it time to replace the rear shocks? I currently have 72,000 miles on the original ones. Or could it be spring noise which I assume there isn't a cure to? Thanks for your replies in advance.

Make sure its not the rear hatch first. Mine was squeaking going over bumps etc yesterday and it ended up just being some ice in the gap between the hatch and the roof.Red 1996 Firebird

Also check the sway bar end-links. My Z sounded like an old man groaning every time I went over a bump. Not any moreSteve

I'm gonna guess it's your rear hatch shocks. Every camaro does that. Mine squeak if you run over a bug, so it is pretty much a constant squeak. Turn up the radio and it drowns it out.97 Chevy 'Raro Z28 M6- Ported & Polished LT1 heads,beehives,1.6/1.94 valves, 226/231 custom cam,K&N FIPK, 94-95 BBK shorty's,ORY,Magnaflow Catback,no cats,BMR LCA Relocation Brackets,Lower Control Arms,Adjustable Panhard Bar,Eibach Pro Kit,SPEC Stage 1,Walbro 255 Fuel Pump,30LB Injectors,Pro 5.0,Short stick,MSD 8.5's,NGK TR55's,LT4KM

Update
Well I never did find what the noise was until it got really annoying and louder as well. It sounded like my rear end was about to fall off. Anyway, it ended up being the control arms. Both sets of bushings were extremely worn out. I replaced them with aftermarket ones made of polyurethane to last longer. What a difference it made. The rear end is solid again.1988 5.0 TBI Camaro 700R4 Transmission
