A proper repair (meaning removing the diff.) would cost at least $250. The should replace the crush sleeve in the process. When I did my first seal, I upgraded the internals to justify the cost of labor.

FWIW - I replaced my seal since last we talked. Since I had already replaced the crush sleeve with solid spacers, achieving the correct torque was easier. So far, no more leaks and no new noise from the rear. In this case, my vision 10 years earlier paid off.
