Obama borrows from Granholm's excuse book

President-elect Barack Obama has invited Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm to be part of his economic advisory team as he prepares for the White House.

And it seems he is already adopting her playbook.

A top Obama advisor warned today that the change Americans thought they were voting for Tuesday may not come for a long time because, in his words, President George W. Bush is leaving behind such a mess.

Granholm must be his ghost writer. She spent her entire first term blaming her predecessor, former Gov. John Engler, for her inability to come up with any answers to Michigan's economic free-fall.

When state residents wearied of that excuse, she switched in her second term to blaming Bush for her paralysis in the face of disaster.

There's much Obama can learn from Granholm about dodging responsibility for not delivering on campaign promises to make things better.

Perhaps she can convince him to lead off his innaugural address with her now famous vow, "in five years, you'll be blown away."

So Raro, do you think Jenny Mole Face should advise ANYONE on the economy? Especially the PRESIDENT!!!???
It's a good thing Ronald Reagan didn't use that excuse. So, now we are going to battle a recession with the same policies Carter and the fools in Congress used that sent the nation into the toilet. Our recession was caused by bad debt and high energy costs. It seems as though we should address those issues, and not tax and regulate the hell out of business. As far as Michigan goes, they are toast.

What "mess" did Bush create exactly? If you are referring to the economy, the housing mess falls on Obama's pals. Bush and McCain tried passing a bill to stop the sub-prime mortgage loans and it was shot down by Democrats.

I didn't agree with a lot of Bush's policies. I don't think he did the best job he could have. However, the Democrat-controlled Senate made his job tough at every turn. The party preached how we should all be in this together, yet fought him with everything... Screwed the economy... And had a perfect scape goat when it inevitably failed.

McCain might not have been the answer. But Obama isn't either.

                  Please answer these two questions:

What exactly did Bush do that caused energy prices to spike?

What exactly did Bush do that caused the default on debt?

If this "mess" is Bush's fault, I expect a really really good answer to these two questions.

I agree there is a policy problem with both, but there are a number of players and special interests involved over several decades. Bush is a scapegoat and an excuse to continue the special interest agenda that caused the problems in the first place.

Furthermore, it is extremely scary that the environmentalist agenda will push their policy and the consequences that go with it, and everybody will continue to believe the consequences are Bush's fault. It is also scary that socialism will distribute wealth, waste it, and everybody will continue to believe the consequences are Bush's fault.

                    • Everybody needs to be perfectly clear on two things:

                      1. If Obama fails to secure the energy resources this country needs to sustain our current infrastructure, that is Obama's fault.

                      2. If Obama taxes and regulates business to the point of breaking and people lose their jobs, that is Obama's fault.

...I do not want to hear about Bush. Obama is in the hot seat now, and he knows the consequences. If Obama, Pelosi, and Reid bow down to special interests, pull from Iraq, and talk about wind mills and peace; the consequences will be theirs and theirs alone....NOT Bush.

Mark, obviously you don't know Democrats. They'll find some way to blame Bush, beacause Heaven knows Hussein Obama (HO for short ) is JUST what this country needs and that the guy craps flowers and when he blows his nose, pollution decreases a little more. I can't wait to see how the celebs like sharing their millions with us commoners when the socialism starts. I wonder how quick Hollywood will switch to being Republican?

The problem is this. In Colorado, four really rich Democrats spent millions to buy the legislature and the Governor's Office. They have the money to burn. Taxes or no taxes, they have the money to burn so they don't care. I doubt the Celebs will care at all.

Now a business trying to turn a profit, that is different story. Tax and regulation will cause the economy to retract especially if people don't have disposable income to consume.

I guess it doesn't really matter. The Dems are determined to kill the goose that laid the golden egg and blame Bush. All we can do is sit back and watch.
