Remember the 'silenty majority'? That was a term from back in Nixon's day about all the people who didn't march, and protest, and make a big scene about their 'rights' or their own agenda- just went about their day-to-day business- I would count myself in that group, and we are dying off-

I hate to sound like such an old fossil, but it seems nowdays that people are more concerned with what people think, how things appear to others- what is more important, your MySpace page or the integrity and honor with which you conduct your life? I am concerned that most younger people would find it 'quaint' and out-dated that I would even consider such things as honor- hey, it's a get-it-while-you-can world- just ask the execs at Enron or AIG or any other scandal laden group. Even our law-officers, people who have given their lives in service to upholding the law are frequently shown to be lying, or distorting truth to serve their own needs.

I am not saying there haven't been wrongs, or people, and whole segements of society vicitimized. But because that may have happened, 50 or 100 years ago, doesn't make it right to have a backlash against people who weren't even participants in the original events- I never owned slaves, or got rich from their work- why should I be expected to pay repartations? Yet many black activists think this should happen- or affirmative action- because of someone's race, or skin color, they should be given preference for college entrance or a job? Didn't you just say discrimination is wrong? or is it only discrimination against 'whitey' that is tolerated?

As others have said, American society is in the toilet- whether or not the public cares enough to do anything about it, or even recognize the problem, awaits to be seen. *sigh*

I have plenty of weapons and training as well. My best defense is my home tucked away in the Rocky Mountains...just me, my family, and the Deer. After the kids are gone, so will be my wife and I to a more remote location. I just want to get away from all the BS.

I guarantee there will be nuisance legislation like the Crime Bill and the "so-called" assault weapons ban along with heavy restrictions on ammunition. I would buy lots of ammunition if I were you. I doubt there will be any confiscations in my lifetime. If we go down the confiscation road, it is a line in the sand that will cause me to revolt.

That's my point exactly. The only thing consistant is change. I could have pointed out another 100 things that are negative and it won't do a bit of good to argue about it.

I don't know home much time you spend off-roading, but an alarming number of trails are closed.

I don't know how much time you spend looking at takings issues, but every day people are being regulated out of their land.

I don't know what will happen with the extremist environmental agenda, but Colorado elected one of the most left wing environmental nut cases around to the US Senate. The consequences of these policies is far beyond the electorate's intellectual capacity.

I don't know how much time you spent reading about the "Raw" Deal, but the Supreme Court was stacked to push an agenda.

I don't know how much time you spent analyzing the LBJ "Screwed" Society, but we are dealing with an explosion of entitlement spending and an infectious mentality as a result of those policies.

The 20th century saw two major shifts in this country during the 30s and 60s. We can very well see another shift toward government control where property rights as well as one's ability to defend himself is a thing of the past. We can also further entrench people's notion that the government needs to take care of them.

This election is a fundamental shift in philosophy and not for the better. The sad thing is most people don't realize the shift they are making.

And it will get worse as populations boom. The more people, the more agendas, the more money to feed said agendas, etc.

That is one of the problems with this election. The main check and balance on the legislative branch is the president and now the new president has a history of being more to the left of anybody in the legislative branch. The only check now will be the 60 vote required to close deliberation to vote on a bill. The Republicans will have to filibuster everything that is ultra left and it will get used a lot.

It's still better than a dictatorship.

I don't typically talk about what I have especially the ammo. As far as anybody is concerned, I lost it all in a tragic boating accident. I will never be without; I just won't be able to practice as much as I do now. I currently pay about $160 per 1000 of .223 loading it myself.

However, I would be pretty pissed if I forfeit my Concealed Carry by some BS federal law.

No, I would though...especially black powder weapons. I sent you Cabelas' because they are HUGE outdoor and sportsman outfitters...Bass Pro Shops competitor. You might save a few bucks from smaller dealers, but you will have no problems with Cabelas.

I have bought from them and their service is good. However, most aftermarket high cap mags for a mini 14 are junk. The feed lips are terible and some wont even fit into the mag well. The gun will usually jam more than it cycles correctly, so be careful what you buy.

I noticed on that link that the clips scored a 2 out of 5 stars with many complaints about feeding. So my next question is what brand works and where can I buy them? (I went by a local gun shop and they only had 5 round clips.)
