That is not the purpose of raising the CAFE standards. They did this so that more cars would qualify for the gas guzler tax which will bring more money to the federal government to spend. Oh and never mind the fact that the car will cost the consumer $2000 more. That's $2000 more the government will have to spend.

The auto industry is about to embark on a worse road then it did in the 70s. We as car enthusiasts should find a new hobby, because the days are numbered on this one. It's going to be a track only kinda thing.

            I am pretty much screwed:

            Off-roading

            Shooting

            Cars

I guess I can still work out.

Not for long. There will be new regulations due to liability issues that will require each health club member to carry a 100K insurance policy. The result is that health club membership dues will double.

Obama borrows from Granholm's excuse book

President-elect Barack Obama has invited Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm to be part of his economic advisory team as he prepares for the White House.

And it seems he is already adopting her playbook.

A top Obama advisor warned today that the change Americans thought they were voting for Tuesday may not come for a long time because, in his words, President George W. Bush is leaving behind such a mess.

Granholm must be his ghost writer. She spent her entire first term blaming her predecessor, former Gov. John Engler, for her inability to come up with any answers to Michigan's economic free-fall.

When state residents wearied of that excuse, she switched in her second term to blaming Bush for her paralysis in the face of disaster.

There's much Obama can learn from Granholm about dodging responsibility for not delivering on campaign promises to make things better.

Perhaps she can convince him to lead off his innaugural address with her now famous vow, "in five years, you'll be blown away."

                      o and...

Alot of people are extremely disappointed in Granholm. Of course, Engler was no good either - but we didn't really take a step in any direction. We just kinda...sat still. If there's actually a decent candidate running for Governor, she won't be re-elected, that much I can assure you.

If Granholm takes this position for Barack, I believe she would have to step down as governor. Well, I don't know if she has to step down but presumably the lt. governor will take over. Isn't the governor two term limited like the president?

As far as how engler did, I don't really know. That was before I took any interest. I am still playing the catch-up game in local politics.

                                We just kinda...sat still.
                                Which proves my point exactly.

ETA: You know, what Engler did/didn't do is moot point. Many people across this country SAY they elected BHO because he promises he can fix this economy. That is the exact same thing Granholm promised us Michiganders, even going so far as to say(and broadcast on commercials statewide) that we will be blown away at what she will accomplish. promise this promise that. Exactly like BHO has done. NOW, you want me to believe that even though it has been proven that her words hold no water in Michigan, that she can magically do BETTER with our countries' economy? HAH!?! what a joke! That is the point I tried to make in the other thread. You cannot truly believe ANYTHING a politician promises to do for you. So what does that leave? That leaves what they HAVE done in the past. aka THEIR RECORD! Let's face it BHO's records sucketh the third...So where does that leave us?
